View attachment 392817 My BMG Montana. It’s a great jacket—supple, heavy leather, and it has full Knox armour that I don’t see or feel.
I’d like to wear my Schott 141, but there’s no option to put armour into it. I may check out some D30 ghost armour in a mesh shirt of some sort…
I’ve also got a BMG Montana I picked up a few months ago NOS. I can’t get used to the armour, I’ve rode for too long without it but the jacket is great. I’ve never had a “modern” MC jacket with rotated longer sleeves, wow what a difference it makes. I’m very impressed with the build and leather quality.

The original belstaff Montana is a classic, here's mine, I hear great things about the BMG version.

50s HD Cycle Champ. Any idea where I can find replacement spots for the jacket? Tks.

Have you posted this jacket on the Vintage outwear trends of the past? I am curious how you compare this cycle Champ to your Sears Hercules MC jackets. I would rather ask the question on the vintage tread where more of the vintage crowd hangs. I never pursued the Cycle Champ but do own an HD Townsmen one nice mid-length jacket

A few jackets. Oddly the jackets have outlasted the bikes as rides have changed but not necessarily the Jackets.

The last jacket is really unique, I like the denim/dark brown combo!

I replaced the original black Knox armour with the new, light, soft microlock armour. It made a big difference. That black stuff is pretty hard.

I think that the only difference between the BMG and the original Belstaff Montana, is the lining and the logo on the sleeve.

The BMG has a shiny polyester lining, whereas the Belstaff has a cotton tartan style lining. And the BMG has no logo on the sleeve. Apart from that, they appear to be identical. I suppose the fact that BMG and Belstaff are under one umbrella—they just shifted it from one brand to the other.

Though, it’s somewhat puzzling that Belstaff has relaunched the Montana as part of Ewen and Charlie’s Long Way Up line of clothing, calling it The Long Way Up Montana. They have eliminated the horizontal pocket from the right chest, and gone from double adjustment buckles to single at the waist. Other than that… and the PRICE, they look very similar. Possibly it’s the casual, no armour version at twice the price.
So now you have the choice of jackets, it just depends on how much you want to spend.

I would take the BMG jacket every day of the week before the long way up jacket. That's a fashion jacket and not for serious motorcycle wear. Belstaff quality went downhill after being taken over.

Riding season is nearly here in Scotland and I'm sorting out my jackets, textiles and leather. Here's some of my favourites.

Either I just saw this or I saw it, it slipped my mind and I saw it again. Can’t recall. I am on the road for a bit, but will take side by side pics for you when I get back. I’ll try to answer any questions. My bad JB.
