Les Paul Biography On PBS

Our local PBS station ran an excellent biography on Les Paul this past Wednesday night. Did anyone else happen to see it?

I'm not sure if this is a new production or a re-run (does anyone know?) but I highly recommend looking for it in your local PBS listings if you haven't seen it.

I was a big fan of Les Paul and Mary Ford about 15 years ago but haven't listened to them much recently. That's going to change after seeing this program!

Les Paul's use of multiple track recording made for a truly unique sound in the early 1950s and paved the way for recording technique as we know it today.

I saw about half the program and thought it was great.
A few of us locals are planning on seeing Les Paul very soon.

Saw the show myself... I'll say this much: while I appreciate and respect the technological innovations Les Paul brought in, Chet Atkins' playing sounds much more natural and pleasing to my ear.

I didn't know a whole lot about him, but I saw the show, and I need to take a visit to the cd shop.

Feraud, I see where he does 2 shows each Monday. Too bad I don't live near NYC.

I saw Les Paul maybe 8 years ago, when the Iridium was up off Columbus Circle, close(r) to the Lincoln Center. Very personable, hung around and gave autographs after his set...probably the only "Les Paul" I'll ever have !

Got to love PBS, they air some great stuff. I'll have to watch for Les Paul, bet it's out there on You Tube or something of the sort. I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan on PBS the other night. Great station. Back to Les....he was awesome. To have a badly crushed/broken arm set back in position only so he could continue to play. I had so many chances to go see him in NY where he played in a small club and missed the opportunity. A friend has a 1959 Les Paul, bought it back in the early 80's for 500 dollars.....darn thing is worth serious money these days.

You should have come--I could have used the extra dough (I tended bar at Fat Tuesday's in those days).
