Leila Hyams

Hey guys

One of the projects we're working on is a biograpy/documentary style DVD about Leila Hyams. For those of you unfamiliar with her, she was an actress of the 20s and 30s. Her career ended after 10 years (by her choice), but in that time she made over 50 films. She is probably remembered best as Venus in "Freaks" (1932). Though that film made her well known, she still remained scarce in the public eye and there doesn't seem to be a wealth of information on her the way there is with the superstars of the era. We have some things, such as photographs, a magazine article about her from 1931 and some other side information, but it's going to take a while to collect enough material to supplement the commentary for a DVD. I was wondering if any of you on here has anything pertaining to Leila? Maybe some other magazine articles, one of her movies or ANYTHING?? We have about 7 of her movies thus far. Thanks everyone!!!! :eusa_clap

I've got these four movies recorded off of TCM:

Spite Marriage 1929

Big House 1930

Island of Lost Souls 1933

Red-Headed Woman 1932

You probably have these don't you?

Hi Johnny,

Yes I do have those photos, thank you! I have The Big House set to record from TCM on the 11th, and I have the other movies with the exception of "Spite Marriage". Did you record that from TCM to a DVR or is it on VHS?

thanks buddy! :)

I don't have a list online but I can easily make one. Any idea what kind of films you're looking for? Are you looking for other films of Leila's or something else?

Ok, of Leila's, here's what I have that you didn't list

Saturday's Millions - 1933 (quality could be better but its nearly impossible to find)
Affairs of a Gentleman - 1934
Freaks - 1932
The Big Broadcast - 1932

The others I have, you already have (Red-Headed Woman, Island of Lost Souls)

Side note: Red Headed Woman will be released on DVD in december as part of a Jean Harlow pack.

Ok no problem, sounds good. I'm leaving Saturday morning for LA and I won't be back until the 20th....but as soon as I get back I'll get that out to you. You can naturally hold off on sending Spite Marriage until then....I'll just PM you when I'm back and it should go off without a hitch!
