Yeah I think they went with 4" for layering purposes, people do admit that too

I'm saying the opposite (I think), that I think two inches more, so 6" total chest ease at least, are best on a cross zip because this produces a more flattering line (and yes, the fact that it can be worn with more than a t-shirt is a big plus too!)

I come from a menswear/tailoring background (that's why I joined this site 16 years ago) so my view tends to be that if a piece of outerwear only fits over a t-shirt (which is a form of underwear technically), then it is too small. I own leather jackets that this applies to, but I think by definition they are too small as a result.

Hmmm I have not considered that. Especially comparing it to double breasted blazers is a great perspective. So I went up to a size 40, 46", 5" of chest ease. Now I cant wait for this to come through! I must admit, having a snug HH cross-zip is not very fun lol

I might cop a very snug 626 at some point that I can stretch or some lambskin, need an early+late summer lighter jacket.

Edit: Can you post examples btw? The attached is what one will find most of the time, and he does not seem like he has 6" of chest ease

I made a post here about poorly fitting jackets we still own, and my example was a snug fitting Perfecto I have that's made out of 1.6mm leather. Looks great but I can only wear a t-shirt under it and as you can imagine it grips me in place, lol.

I've mostly kept it because of the leather but I really need to move it on at some point because it doesn't fit me really.

I have 3 - 3.5 chest ease, even with the only cross zip I have. For me, that fits well.

It's possible that it's stretched out a bit in wear. My Vicenza Ridley was 22 PTP but is now 23 PTP.

The jacket I'm talking about is 22 PTP but it's a thick 4 oz hide that is not going to stretch haha.

Anyone have any idea how much it weighs ?
I'll weigh mine too, and if I can find my thickness gauge I'll measure it as well, but I'd expect these new ones to come in a bit heavier. I'd be surprised if what I have is 3.5oz/1.4mm.

Update: With the belt and removable collar on, mine weighs in at 6.5 lbs exactly. I didn't weight it without them, but it'd probably subtract half a pound or so. 6 lbs is a decent weight for a motorcycle jacket. My Vansons in comp weight are all right around 6-6.5 lbs, as are my Aero Sheenes. But the leather doesn't feel as thick to me. Could be because this is so pliable and supple compared to Horween CXL FQHH and old school Vanson's Comp Weight 1.5mm cowhide, but I think even feeling it between my fingers, it doesn't feel as thick -- the belt in particular feels very thin. I found it difficult to measure the thickness, the only place where I could find a single-layered thickness to measure was on the patch coin pocket, which I measured to 1.3mm, if I'm using it correctly, and that seems thicker than I was expecting. I would have guessed 1.1-1.2mm, and it's possible if I could take measurements elsewhere I might find that.

Loungers. I got to looking and need your 2 cents.

So this Sportclad measures similar to their size 38. 22in P2P, 18in shoulder, 18.75 hem. Its just shorter.

Maybe email them again for a 38?

That doesn’t seem unreasonable.
Damn man, the waiting game is real!

So many things to consider. This Sportclad is comfortable only because its from the 40s and has seen some shit, not sure if a brand new one will have a lot of give or I'll end up trying to sell it like my Double Helix Deviant. I kept on thinking back to my 618hh, but then I didnt like that one because there is a lot of room in the belly area (20in hem though)

Edit: How is a J24 supposed to fit anyways?

Out of curiosity, how long/hard did you wear your 618? Perfectos, especially horsehide ones, feel baggy in the midsection when new, but much snugger once they’ve gotten wet and broken in.

I wore it pretty hard. It was even looser once it got softer and the drape (like on the sleeves and shoulders) I guess I have to think about the style I want to wear it. Heritage vs. Standard/Pinterest-core. But yeah it was boxy af and was "busy" in terms of hardware.

It got wet a few times. Cant even remember why I sold it. D'oh!

Emailed the Legendary folks, they suggested a size 40.

Question for the group; would you consider this a good fit for a cross zip?

After doing some digging online I think I'm gonna stay with the 42. Found some posts on the schott forum from a few years back where someone is selling a 44 and they say it fits more like a 46, noting the 50" chest measurement. Several other posts on this forum and others seem to corroborate the jacket fits large.

I'll stick the 40 myself. Lets see whatsup.

The reason is, I tried holding up my tape measure to my Sportclad (that is similar to Legendary's 38) to where the tape measure is gonna be if I sized up to 40 and tried to imagine how it would look. The size 40 Black Stallion has .5" more on the shoulders and an inch for p2p and like .75" on the hem. Visually its not much different not sure how it will look when I put it on. I wish I could try this on lol

Anybody know how thick a Vanson C2 is? I had a 38 in vanson, 18in shoulder, 21in p2p, and 18" hem (!!!!), similar to the 18.5" hem of the black stallion, and that C2 was tooooo tight for me, I can zip it up but it was tight on the waist. It also had a quilted lining. So I am thinking maybe it was too thick because of the leather thickness and lining.

I would say yes, 6" chest ease is quite a lot
