I found a new hat yesterday. It's a teardrop crown Lee Trinity Blue label. It's very dark gray with a light gray band, and a brim bound in wide ribbon.
I'll post pics when I get home. What do people know about this Lee, or the blue label grade?

I've acquired several Lees and like the hats. They are not Borsalinos or Cavanaghs, but they are well crafted. Mine have felt that is better than middle of the road quality. In fact one has felt on par with some of my better hats. I'd never pass buy the opportunity to pick one up. Eric (Don't forget to call me if you don't want to keep it ;)

Excellent hat!

I've only had one Lee, a fantastic homburg, which
I gave to a friend (fit him better).

Now shrink those glasses unless you are going for
a 70s look...

And hey, let's see that blue label.

Oh, now I'm just jealous. I know others around this site are wiser than me, but I'd guestimate it as the late 40's into the 50's with that clear cover at the top. The labeling resembles one I have that I am sure is 50's vintage. But, who cares you have a fine "Trinty" worthy of a trip into the Matrix. Eric

Nice compliment

I hope you didn't take my post as disparaging; I meant it as a compliment, and I hope the ticket taker did, too. Shirt, tie, hat and specs -- you look good. A very well put together fellow, I'd say.

(and I, too, am jealous of the hat)

no- not at all, I took it as a compliment, it's just weird to get it twice in a week, that's all.

I almost missed the hat too- It was up in a stetson hatbox on top of a display case in an antique mall. I checked inside, saw the hat, fell in love. I was sure it was too small (i'd found about 10 hats I loved over the course of the day) but sure enough, 7-1/4. Inside the box was the purely decorative wind string (or whatever you'd call it seeing as it isn't attached to the hat). I slipped it on, and when I checked out, I discovered that the hat was 20 percent off, and a milan porkpie i bought from the same antique mall was 50 percent off. 2 really nice hats for under 20 bucks. I made out like a bandit.

This is one of the three hats my dad has appropriated from me. I finally got a picture of him in it today.

If you are Clark Kent . . .

Then your Dad must be Indiana Jones . . .

Seriously, you look good, your straight with folks, and you know what you like . . . All traits to be admired in a young person these days.

I'm glad that you still check the antique malls Dinerman. I've given up looking in stores and malls for hats because I haven't found anything decent in a long time. There used to be a lot of flea markets in Manhattan but they are mostly gone because the property was converted into high rises! I used to find great hats years ago .
