Leather Police Jackets

Saddest part is that the fit is actually... Good. This is a seriously good testament to the makers extreme skill. Not many companies would be able to pull this off.

lol at the belt loops.

Philly motorcycle officers... for some reason they take perfectly good leather coats and paint on shellac or something to make them shiny. I have no doubt it shortens the life of the leather considerably.

I got this from ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Branded-leather-Motorcycle-Jacket-Size-42-eastman-aero-lost-worlds-/262730281838?nma=true&si=gxEEbzgqIR%2BLB51rXoYIJ%2FTPyE0%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Has almost all elements of a classic CHP jacket. Not bad for this price, can't wait to try it. Judging by the uneven grain leather looks like being full grain. I'm wondering if the collar is real fur ?! If not I'll replace it, it's worth a real one.
For me LW makes the ultimate CHP, but that is another level.

Branded makes all their stuff from steerhide, these days, it seems. They claim it's heavy but also supple to allow movement. I keep thinking of getting one of their big NYPD highway coats, but I should have done that a year ago when the U.S. dollar was weaker...

True, the way it drapes looks heavy and rather supple.
Nice jacket the NYPD one, but maybe if I see more pictures/info I can get a more precise idea. The site picture is not so convincing. I am sure they make quality jackets from what I've been able to see on eBay.
However with all their jackets, the way they advertise them is average at best. The pictures seem like taken on rush, the articles information is scarce. I would not have bought this CHP police jacket from the site. Judging by photos, the same model doesn't look worthy of asked price there.

I don't know the history of this German double-breasted 3/4 length coat (police?). I bought it preowned a long time ago. The leather/lining are in excellent condition, showing little to no wear. Horse, steer? The build quality is stunning! Look's cool as heck too[emoji41]

Found this beauty on eBay at a good price. Made by Passaic Leather Co. The leather is thick and strong and has superb graining and patina. Most of my jackets are G-1’s and afew A-2’s and civilian jackets; this is my first vintage police jacket and I’m very happy to add it to my collection!

^ That looks really good, Thor. Side zips are a nice feature, as are the cuff buttons (very rare on modern police jackets). I bet the jacket would serve you well on your job, except all your passengers would be thinking you were the "Ferry Police"!

The word "Intendance" is French and the grenade design on the tag is French, but the overall design of the coat and the perfectly rounded shoulder strap suggest German. But here's a similar jacket which suggests it's Dutch LINK.

At a guess I would say it's 50s - post-war, West German. Looks to be the forerunner of this one, wich I know can in at some point in the early 60s:
