Leather Jackets, Tattoos and Psychic Armor

I once heard Ed Hardy describe tattoos as psychic armor and I thought it might make for interesting discussion. How does your leather make you feel and do you feel differently either without it or in different styles? For my fellow tattooed folks, same question.
I do feel differently (more authentically me perhaps) when I've got some ink showing. They're mostly hidden in winter and even I don't see that much of it; always makes me smile when I catch a glimpse. In a similar vein, beyond the tactile and olfactory pleasures of leather, I feel it projects a certain level of self confidence/certainty of self. I'd go as far as to describe my leather as my winter tattoos. I've also been in situations where both leather and tattoos have made me slightly self-conscious. So much for psychic armor : )

My arms and chest are covered in high quality Japanese artwork since I was nineteen. I'll be thirty this year and I absolutely hate and regret my tattoos. Maybe I am an outlier here, but I always advise my little cousins who like my ink to wait until they're a little older to really start collecting tattoos.

Wish I would have just invested the several thousand I blew on tats.

On a more positive note I feel badass wearing my vintage Schott 672HH.

Agree to disagree, I have quality work too which I like, my son also, it looked especially good when he was drumming in bands

Always support a decent artist, like you obviously, hate seeing shitty scratcher tats

I've had a design in mind for my ink for years, but never quite had the disposable to hand at the right time. Need to get onto that, I'm 50 already...

It's not leather specific at all for me, but being happy with what I'm wearing definitely adds a confidence level. An old friend remarked years ago on how my walk changed when I started wearing a suit and fedora, and a long coat. Became a swagger, enhanced confidence. I wasn't consciously aware of it, but it makes logical sense.

Collins is definitely an inspiration for what I want - it's the style I like. If I can hack something small, I'd like a fairly large Lady Justice down my right arm. The first one, though, will hopefully be a development of a Death or Glory design with a nod to bot Johnny Strabler and The Clash, the latter's song of the same name being a big inspiration.

All the tattoos I got in my late teens/early twenties are lasered off or blasted over.

Definitely wish I would have waited until I was more mature.

Nice, I have a lot of traditional stuff, all colour, I love the Clash also although I was always more of a rocker, I'm getting a Sailor Jerry Mermaid and anchor by the way lower leg this time, arms are full haha plus spend a lot of times in shorts in Madrid
