Leather jacket fit check!

Hi All, wanted to ask your opinion for a fit check. My current jacket which is the light brown McCoy J-100 is a size 40 and the black is a size medium from Shangrila- heritage and the dark brown is a large also from Shangrila heritage because they don’t have the black jacket in large. Which is a better fit the medium or large and I think the mccoy’s 40 lies between medium and large of Shangrila heritage.

Thanks in advance.

IMO medium looks better. At least open. How does it look/feel closed?
Medium feels a bit tight but large has abundance of room in which I feel I can wear a hoodie underneath. Medium feels like a 39 and large feels like a 41 to me. So I’m on the fence ok which to get.

In this case, I would definitely take L, because it is important to me to be able to wear a jacket comfortably even with a hoodie or sweater. But if it doesn't have to be that particular jacket, I would maybe look further for a '40'.

Yea man! That’s my thought too! Shangrila heritage’s jacket did surprise me through their stitching and quality. I also tried on their whisky colored hide and its heft and shine is definitely on par with Shinki. The black colored on is not as fine as their whisky color ones.

The whisky colored Varenne. I believe it’s tanned differently.

I’d go with the larger size personally. I’d rather a jacket be comfortable and functional vs. looks good but too tight (feeling). YMMV.

thanks all! I’ll wear a hoodie to the store next time and zip up both to see which feels less constricted and perhaps go checkout mccoys nelson size 40 as well as that’s the style I want to go for and I know sleeve will be more fitted and can still wear a hoodie zipped up.

That’s a good idea if that’s how you intend to wear the jacket.

I’ve learned the hard way, ordering jackets based off my actual size measurements ….

They look fantastic, but I want a jacket to wear as outer wear - comfortable and with room to layer. I’m not looking for a suit jacket / tailored fit. YMMV.

IMO a hoodie and a leather jacket have no business being together.
If you can wear a hoodie underneath a jacket, the jacket is too big.

To me that's like wanting to be able to wear a ski jacket underneath a dress suit, there is no reason to do it and a suit that allows you to wear a ski jacket underneath it will look like crap.

And there you have it OP … two horizontally opposed opinions, which is all they are.

If this is the look you are going for I think it looks great and I doubt the jacket would look oversized. Again YMMV, there are no absolutes.

This post gets the 4 star award of the week. Hoodies and leather jackets go together like oil and water. Even though the younger crowd likes this combination, it doesn't make it any easier on the eyes.

Haha well the pic does look good. I typically wear only a T-shirt with my j100 in Taiwan but seeing I’m moving back to Canada next year I do want to have the option of being able to layer a sweater or hoodie if the temp gets too low while trying to wear my favourite type of outerwear. Expanding the amount of time I can in leather before I need to wear my N1.

Depending where in Canada you are going to, you’re going to need a lot more than an N1 (joking … sort of).

If you’re in the GTA drop me a PM. Always fun to meet up with fellow FLers.
