Leather Down Jacket

Hi there :)

I am looking for a leather down jacket for the winter.
It seems to be very rare, at least I only find padded jackets.

Or from Moncler for a horror price:eek::D

Can anyone recommend which manufacturer I should look for? The jacket can also be a little longer, like a parka or something similar. It doesn't necessarily have to be a bomber

Best regards
Gabri

Maybe it's very rare because it doesn't make any sens!
Down likes to be kept in a lightweight fabric so that it can remain light and fluffy and trap warm air, if you encase it in leather you basically kill all it's loft and ability to do it's job.

You also want down to breath as it is very sensitive to moisture, leather is terrible at breathing and great at storing moisture.

All in all this sounds like a terrible idea to me, some things aren't done for a reason...

What do you mean with fabric down jacket ?
Well, the jacket doesn't look like it's made of leather at all. So why spend too much money on a leather down jacket when it looks like it's made of fabric? Then I'll just buy a fabric one and then I'll have the functionality I expect from a down jacket.

Moncler is famous for having that shiny shell that kinda looks like leather but at the same it is very clear that's not it.

Like others said, go for a down jacket or parka. If where you live is rainy rather than snowy / dry cold, I would personally recommend something that's also water repellent or waterproof, like you could get from Patagonia or Arcteryx. These two are also good options for simply down jackets, I've also heard wonders about Rab but hasn't been an easy to find brand in Europe (although you can see it from time to time).

If you want something more akin Moncler, you can look into Canada Goose or Moose Knuckles, but it will be pricier.

Eddie Bauer did a few of these years back.

Not sure how effective these would be, but at the prices listed may be worth a try. I could wear the second one just fine.

I don't look at the brand, I only mentioned Moncler as an example. Moose Knuckels also has a leather down jacket.

I just wanted to know if there are any insider tips from manufacturers that nobody knows

There is Double Goose, but I think they have nothing to do with the original brand Double Goose Country. I don't think they exist anymore

I wrote it in a post above you. I don't think they have anything to do with the original anymore. Maybe they just bought trademark rights or something?

I found those too. Unfortunately, the colors and models aren't my style.
But do you know where they make their jackets? (I'm assuming not in the USA, the price of the jackets seems too cheap for that)

A2 jacket with a puffy vest or an electric vest would be more functional.
Shearling would be the best if the jacket has to be leather.
Leather and down would quickly turn into a soggy chilly mess if you are doing any activities like clearing snow.
It isn't breathable enough. All the moisture from your body will be trapped in the down. You will end up with something that will not keep you warm and take a very long time to dry out.
