Leather choices ...

Perfect timing on this thread. Was actually looking at the SB J100 yesterday but was "overwhelmed" by the leather choices. Just based on the photos and appx. thickness from the site, I kept gravitating to the Clayton. But the Lux looks nice too.

Am I wrong, or is there no upcharge to the leathers you pick? I tried plugging in a couple examples and the price stayed the same, but not sure once I go to finally check out if it'll then pop up.

Still on the fence anyway. Field Leathers caught my eye as well. I really need to stay off these boards as the wallet is burning up. But it doesn't seem like he does brown leather in certain styles. I'll ping him anyway at some point. There's been some beautiful reviews on these boards lately. Albeit, he's almost double the price of SB off the rack. Not sure how much the customs are though.

Definitely worth requesting the leather samples from them. The Lux does have a great feel to it and was in my top two finalists.

I think all Horween is a £75 up charge and the Blatwerks £150. There were a few other horse hides that were an extra £30 as well.

It might be different with the new site, but I just opened up the dialogue with emailing and eventually we finalized everything and they sent me an invoice to pay at least 50% down.

The emailing back and forth with Deb takes a bit of time, but they want to get the sizing and details right for you.

^^ congratulations placing your cross zip order! what design/leather did you end up choosing?

Thanks, I’m really excited. My first custom jacket!

Brown Horween Milan ‘Deb Special’/‘Double Rider’ / Standard and Strange model - which is their normal biker sans epaulets, coin pocket and belt with side adjusters instead.

Apparently Deb designed it for herself and they were planning to call it a ladies model until the SxS guys saw it and ordered a bunch.

Similar to @John D Maccarter ’s jacket in post 3 of this thread.

Looks like they don't have anything in cordovan/burgundy huh? Would also like the option of a warmer lining. They show a quilt lining on their site but it's not on the drop down menu for some reason.

i have a SB Roadster in black ranger horsehide. i chose it from all the samples Deb sent as i thought it would not need much break in and have the good amount of drape pretty quick. And i am really happy with the results.

I am about order to their Klondike in the Brown smooth horse. Again the break on that leather looks to be low and drape what i am after. Also the shade of brown looks right.

I have a Simmons Bilt J100 in black goat. Bought new , specced by Proconsul in LA ( not my choice of build I mean).
Black goat , red cotton lining with 4 external 2 internal pockets inc 'pistol" pocket. 2 way RIRI nickel main zipper
Turns out to be one of my favourites now , the goat is perfect for West Australian weather. Off the peg 44" fits to the nuts.
PLUS Simmons Bilt are fantastic to deal with. that's my experience anyways

Definitely ask - I don’t think the website has every option available. They have done a lot of burgundy in the past and can probably get more. I specified that I was looking for brown not burgundy (since I already have a CXL8 jacket), so all the swatches I got were brown.
