Leather and Denim on the Long Trip

Well just got back from a ride across country with my wife on the Trike. 5,826 miles (20 days) of pure joy! While Joselyn chose Tech wear and picked up an HD Denim jacket (Lots a Pockets which she had full to the brim as she was doing the photos and videos (her phone); I chose a Goat LW 23 and a Sugar Cane Denim jacket. We expected some colder weather as we left in early May but I was certainly surprised at how handy the LW was and I actually got a shot at using the fur collar quite a lot. I have posted a few shots of the jackets and a couple of shots of Moab.

After Going through The Great Basin in heavy rain with sleet pelting off our faces we got up to Snow and passed into Nevada on Hwy 50 America's Loneliest Highway.

There is an LW under that rain suit!

Started using the Fur collar in Carson City, NV!!! Really got used to it on Cold mornings.

Death Valley, NO JACKET WEATHER!!!

Relaxing at Bryce Canyon Lodge! Cool enough for the Denim Jacket. I have to say that Sugar Cane makes a damn fine jacket.

Having ridden most of it, I resoundingly agree. Beach rides on both coasts, mountain rides through the Rockies, Smokies, Blue Ridge, the countless rallies, etc. Most of which I do by myself and meet people along the way, usually in shady, dim-lit pubs. I wish I could retire tomorrow and just ride. One day I will get to Australia and explore (while avoiding the limitless little critters that can poison and kill you lol).

I rented a car in Vegas and drove to see the Grand Canyon, and everywhere on the way in Nevada and Arizona I met a lot of bikers. With some of , we talked at stops or gas stations. It was very interesting.

We took mostly back roads the entire trip with the exception of Arkansas as we were trying to beat a major front coming in. US Highway 50 all the way across provided gorgeous scenery and lots of small town life showing not only the beauty of the country but the opportunity to run into a lot of folks along the way. We talked with 4 "Brits" that shipped their bikes into New York and were doing basically the same thing. Like you they were blown away at the difference in riding. We ran into a host of Japanese folks at some gas station somewhere between Zion and Bryce and everyone gathered around the Trike to check it out with a mix of hand language to get us through the conversation. A mailman and plumber both retired in La Junta, Co told us about switch grass and melons as well as a boy scout troop that performed Native American dances for Presidents in the past... We stopped in Syracuse to thank a family who helped me enormously on a previous trip with a dead battery, he is a Pastor of a Latino Church there in town. He had to sit on the trike... And I can't forget "The Harley Doc" in Escalante, UT who rode in on a 1998 Springer Softail with many years of hard riding and looking awesome with the brass Eiffel Tower welded on the throttle side of the handle bars, slightly dented tank but purring like a Maine Coon just to say hello and regale me with stories about the "gorgeous riding out here"! While the landscapes are unforgettable the people you get a chance to meet and talk with really puts the icing on the cake.

What an awesome trip!! So very wishing I could go and do the same, but i think it's time to stop wishing and get out there. Even by car, what a drive that would be!
