By the way I added some more denim for the jean fabric options. We had like 8 and now we have 14 fabric choices. I personally have the Nihon Menpu 15 oz brown wefts being made for myself. We have maybe enough for 4 more jeans to be made in that fabric

Why is it that you guys describe a few denims as "Sanforized raw selfedge" how can denim be both raw and sanforized?

Sanforized is just the shrink treatment and still comes in raw and rigid. This is a common pre treatment on most jeans http://www.rawrdenim.com/2014/04/unsanforized-denim-worth/

Unsanforized is not for the entry level denim person because it requires knowledge of your size and an understanding of how much shrinkage the denim will get. If you size wrong the jeans will shrink to much, leaving you with jeans that will never fit again.

Washed is a different story . Our jeans our not washed and are still raw

Question for honest members only: when you measure your waist, does it come to four inches bigger than your Levis? I keep thinking my eyes are deceiving me. I'm 5'9", 155lbs., slim build. I've got a 36" waist? Say it ain't so!

For unsanforized denim, the denim will stretch back by 1 to 2 inch after some wear, even to the original size if you really want to, so it is not a big problem if you get the shrinkage wrong.

A couple questions for clarification.
What exactly is 36"
When you say bigger than your Levis, are you measuring your Levis waist by laying flat pulling waist tight and doubling measurement?

This is the common way to find out what you wear from many manufacturers. The tag size is not a good way to tell as each manufacturer seems to be different. Then again there are some brands that list the actual measured garment specs. Makes thing easier.

Are you measuring while wearing jeans or just your waist? I know it really makes a difference if you are up or down and inch on your body. Measurements change.

My comfortable jeans measure 15.5" laid flat pulled tight 31" total. My waist itself, not the outside of jeans, measures approx 31.5"

All denim will will shrink a bit regardless of treatment but its the amount of shrinkage that differentiates the Non sanforized from the sanforized denims. Of course there is loomstate denim but thats few and far between.

Washing or soaking your raw denim in cold water will minimize shrinkage a lot. The hotter the temperature the more shrinkage you get. This is why sanforized denim is a good starting point for anyone new to raw denim. As you become familiar with how to size and how certain denims react to water, you can venture out to the denims that require some understanding.

I am sure we could look and find some. We haven't really thought about it because that denim would cause a lot of issues for our non denim knowing customers. Believe it or not we have more of the everyday jean customers than we do the knowledgeable denim customer. We would have to basically have people buy their size and bump it up 2 sizes minimum. I would definitely want to offer it but we need to add a disclaimer for them

I have worn Levis shrink to fit which are unsanforized. I always do a hot soak as recommended. The length shrinks 2-3 inches which I have found never comes back. The waist shrinks 1-2 inches and will stretch back out 1" if you have picked the correct size. This will give you a great fit. Of course if you picked too small of a waist they will stretch more.
It does take some paying attention to sizing to make it all work.

I can see keeping unsanforized till a time when customers have become more knowledgeable about sizing.

I agree. Loomstate is not done by many so its great when you find someone doing it.

I was thinking we should come out with a reverse loomstate. This way as I add girth, the jean will grow with me

Offer loomstate in 26oz, and I think they will erect statues to Lawless. :D

The size 32 I quoted was the size listed on the Levi's patch on the old jeans. When I measured my waist using the one recommended by Lawless I got 36", which surprised me. I just ordered a pair, so I hope I got it right. Thanks for the advice.

Measure your tagged 32 levi's and tell me what they come to. I will help you size. Its not difficult to understand our sizes. Its figuring out that you are not what your tagged jean is. Thats where people get confused. Its not our jeans its the fact that ur jeans say tag 32 but measure 35. For instance if you are a true 36 then you will be a 36 in Lawless. In Rogue Terrytory I wear a 33 but im a 36 waist. In APC I wear a 34 but again my waist is a 36 pushing 37
Either way I will help.

Good to know! With much hesitation I changed my waist size on your order page from my regular 33 inches to what the measuring tape showed me - 37 inches. Same for the pair I was ordering for my brother - added 4 inches to his regular tag size. Now, here's hoping these jeans and jackets reach me half way round the world in decent enough time. Looking forward to them, the 50% off price was too good to miss out on. And yeah, most recent pair of unsanforized raw denim I picked up (SEXIH633 20oz), was in a rush and may have picked a size too small for me, barely fits me right now, hoping to drop a few pounds to have it fit better, but the first wash and it's gonna shrink. Did better the previous time with my SEXIH Indo 19oz. Oh well ... live & learn ... also have two pairs of Gustin waiting for me & my brother to drop those never-disappearing couple pounds!!!

Thanks, DD. I measured a few times and came up with 36.5 perhaps pushing 37 (you're less vain than I am), so, following the instructions I ordered the 36". One can only hope for the best. I appreciate your concern.
