Here's the 545th Bombardment Squadron patch just finished, note that they didn't follow AAF regs with this emblem, a "Squadron" was supposed to be on a "round" background, and "Group" on a "Shield" shaped background, but I've seen quite a few that didn't follow this , thus this Squadron being one of those, enjoy !!!!
Thanks Stand By ,yes I have found over the 30 years of researching the emblems of WW2 , the AAF etc , there were a lot of them that had "Variations" not only in colors, but also the design details and even totally different emblems either because they moved, wanted to change the design for various reasons , where they were made etc , the 545th had a few of these too !
If you want to see more of what I'm talking about , go see my newest Facebook page , WW2 AAF Bombardment Unit Emblems" many there , alos be sure to go ALL the way to the very bottom of the page as I started it on the High numbered emblems and they go downward in progression as you go down into the pages, well worth the while to see , Not all are in there as I didn't find color/ images of some of the units , or some never had an emblem for WW2 era, also note I plan on as time permits ,to make AAF pages for the Fighter Groups/Squadrons, Recon/Liaison/Observation, Troop Carrier/Combat Cargo etc units as I can get to them , enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's my latest Leather patch work, 512th Bombardment Squadron, one of the unit's Famous B-24's "Strawberry Bitch" carries it on her nose in the AF museum in Ohio , enjoy !!!!
