I bought this strange little jacket this week....it's 1970's/80's made but in a pseudo 1930's/wartime style...similar to the short jacket Luftwaffe ace Hans Marseille wore....four zipped pockets, one interior, quite sturdy black leather with light brown areas of wear....the buttons are pebbled metal like German WW2 [ it's a funny metal that has oxidised...I'm in the process of repainting them ]

The liner is satin/polyester....I soaked the jacket in warm bath water with fabric conditioner to get rid of the previous owners "scent"...but it wasn't that terrible and smells lovely now...seems to have shrunk a little too for an even better period fit.

Not expensive really...£45...

I was worried about the 80's-ness of it myself....even worse is...my wife swears it's a womans jacket !!!!

Cool jacket. Great fit. Sometimes you just stumble on great finds that turn out to fit as good or even better than a jacket costing 5 times more! Take my LL Bean bomber for example. Best fitting jacket I own yet I got it for a comparative song and a dance.

Perhaps I'm too young to remember much of the 80's but it doesn't strike as as from that period at all upon first glance. Much closer to golden age IMO. Also, the double-breast and buttons are quite unique. It reminds me of the Perfecto but with buttons.

Good find... a later jacket, but certainly one with a real period look to it, I like it a lot. I love those thirties jackets that have that vagule Perfecto styling, but with button fastening. Eventually, I'd like to have one made; something akin to an Aero Bootlegger, but with button fastening and alternative pocket stylings, and a thirties halfbelt style back to it.

At that price it has to be a bargain - great fit too. The buttons look interesting, what color are they and what are they made of?

The buttons are a pebbled effect brassy metal, but they had tarnished and oxidised to a powdery gray....I've cleaned them up and repainted them dark grey and then gave them a quick once over with fine emery paper to bring out the pebbling....they look much nicer now

Nice jacket. Does it have an elasticated back? I remember a lot of jackets very similar to this suddenly appearing in Kensington Market around 1984 - very well-cut and detailed. They were already used back then, I think.
