So this is my new Langlitz. Fit feels real nice, leather is heavy, hardware is sturdy. The jacket looks and feels custom tailored.

What I received is a bit off from what I ordered though. There wasn't supposed to be padding on the elbows and they sent me the wrong belt with the jacket (ordered sam brown).

Are they pretty good about correcting orders?

I think I'll leave the elbow pads just to save time. I'll email them about the belt though.

Your jacket looks a lot like my old jacket, though your yoke in the back looks different than mine. And minus the arm pockets.

Personal preference, but I liked the elbow pads, they'll look cool when the jacket gets broken in.

Nice jacket!! I like the pads (never really thought I would) but seeing them with the yoke makes them look really that much better. It's a touch busy overall but a great jacket!

So I'm about to pull the trigger for a new Langlitz (see my related thread). What leather did you go for? I'm thinking the heaviest steerhide will be my choice. Nice work with this one Mark.

black cow hide in medium weight. they are getting rid of the heavy and only have a little bit in brown left. renaming medium "standard" and keeping light. The medium is really heavy already and they told me the heavy was just getting far too many returns because it was impossibly thick and impractical. this is def the heaviest jacket I own rivaled probably by my vanson.

Mhno... That's just not a very good review of what is without any doubt the best leather jacket ever made in the world ever. :) Seriously, Americana, this is pretty much the end of your search and everything that comes after will just be... Inferior. Not an exaggeration but a fact that anyone who's ever had Langlitz will confirm.

Having said that, the jacket is breathtaking. And the shoulder padding without padding on the elbow would look just off. I've never even seen a jacket with just the padded shoulders, not from any maker.

I'll wear it around some and give my impressions. It def has a great fit to it but I need to wear it for a week before I can see how the fit plays out into my daily life. I'm going for a long ride tomorrow so I should have a better idea just how it compares to everything else I own.

also they updated the label inside their jackets.

Ok Mark you conviced me more, I will be ordering a new one this spring (Crescent) if for no other reason than to have a 70th anniversary Langlitz. But as I indicated in the other thread, I'm keeping this Columbia from 1986, it's just so darn well broken in, comfortable, and perfect. Plus good incentive for me to drop a few pounds. Good luck with breaking in your new, awesome jacket. I do understand how it must have felt to open the box and be suprised...not quite what you had ordered. Hope it works out...

Another vote to definitely keep the elbow pads. They just look right, and balanced with the shoulder protection. And they just might come in handy some day. And, if for no other reason, they would have cost extra, so you can enjoy them as a bonus!
BTW I specified both shoulder/elbow pads on my Cascade.

Your jacket looks great. Now the challenge will be to break it in. From what I've seen it'll take 20 plus years of heavy use to bring the patina out. Good luck!
