Langlitz Columbia endgame

I think I just purchased my final Langlitz Columbia. I wasn't really looking for another, but when I saw this one, after checking out the details, it was exactly my ideal size and customization, so I had to have it, budget be damned. Picked it up for probably half what I would have had to pay for it to be made for me.

Just delivered, picked up from ebay. It's a 7-pocket, dress collar, non-padded, no mouton-collar attachment, fits me exceptionally well for being made for someone else, and built from the heaviest cowhide Langlitz uses, weighs in at 9lbs. It's a beast. Looks practically brand new, but is in fact 23 years old, and in outstanding condition. Whoever owned it took exceptional care of it, or didn't wear it much.

I'll have to post fit pics soon.

I've got several other Columbia jackets in my closet, and don't need them all, but I'm not sure which one(s) I might part with just yet. My second-favorite is a well-broken in mid-weight cow that also fits me perfectly, but only has two pockets outside, one inside. I think that one's a keeper.

The other two I may consider moving on have cossack collars, one I've had listed in the Classifieds forum for a while, 8 pockets and reinforced elbow patches, just a hair big on me, the other is a police jacket lined with thinsulate, extra warm and maybe a tad short on me, but a pretty good fit otherwise.

Maybe I'll do a photo session with all of them and put the photos up here, to get some opinions.

I'm still looking for my ultimate Cascade, which would be a clone of the one @Frame bought last year. The one I have in goat is nearly it, if it was in mid or heavy cowhide, I think it might be my favorite of all.

Some folks have all the luck. I ended up having to have one made to get close to my size. I figure people built like me must just keep stuff. Must be nice lol

I think it helps that I'm pretty close to statistically dead average in height/weight. 5'10" 175-180#

Edit: And it's not really luck. I spend way too much time looking at various marketplaces for stuff, and I've spent a LOT of time refining my understanding of style and fit.

That's a great looking Langlitz Guppy! I own a Columbia and a Cascade, both made for me, and I think they are my two favorite jackets. Both are fairly simple and classic designs, but they are so well made and the patterns so ingenious they are a pleasure to wear.
Congratulations on a great score.

Oh I saw that one on the bay. Old iontorpedo eh? That's a very, very nice jacket. Were it not for my j106...you'dve had a bit of competition for that sucker. That is a killer Langlitz. Well done man. And yes fit pics por favor!

Yes, that's the one. iontorpedo has some decent stuff from time to time, so he's one of the sellers I follow. I don't think your J106 should envy anything, it's as good as it gets.

The torpedo man does get some really nice Langlitz stuff. Bought a brown Columbia off him years ago. Was a size gamble that failed but the jacket was stellar. Look forward to seeing more pics of yours. You've amassed quite an enviable collection there Guppy!

Great find!

My midweight cowhide Cascade that I bought used a few months ago may be my all time favourite jacket, love its functionality and simplicity. Only wish it was heavy cowhide.. I even contacted Langlitz about getting an identical jacket done in heavy cowhide but they don't use the heavy leather anymore.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Heavy jackets are my favorite.

I was pretty bummed as well when I learned that Langlitz didn't offer the heavy cowhide anymore because I always opt for the heaviest leather, denim, etc. that I can find.
I was happy to discover that their medium weight cowhide is quite robust, and would be considered heavy by most standards.
My father always shakes his head in disbelief at the weight of many of my leather jackets and asks me if I need a hand carrying them out to the car!

At least Cal Leather is still around if you want to go super heavy.

But yes, the leather Langlitz uses in their midweight jackets is outstanding, and plenty heavy.

Do they sell the belts separately on those jackets ! It's spectacular. Congrats! Can't wait to find one in size 38 regular with a great price on here one day .
