Well, the appraiser is coming Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, and I've just about wrapped up everything I'm capable of doing. As I was putting the car away for the night the garage door made a loud bang, and I looked up to see one of the springs had broken and a chunk of metal had embedded itself in the doorframe. Fortunately my head was not in its path. So I took the broken spring and went to the hardware store and managed to find a reasonable facsimile of it and managed to nearly pull my arms out of the sockets putting it up. But it's up and the door works well enough not to draw the appraiser's attention. Just to be safe, though, I'm going to make sure it's open when he's here.

It was about 90 degrees here today and about 99 percent humidity, so I'm soaked to the skin. A long bath is in my future, assuming the tub doesn't fall thru the bathroom floor into the kitchen. I'm only half kidding.

Good luck for Wednesday Lizzie.
I gave Mango (our cat) her first shot of insulin this morning (which she wasn't happy about, but tolerated well enough) & the dose must be ok as she seems fine. That really is an enormous relief, I was so worried that we would overdose her as we were unable to take blood samples to test sugar levels.
As cats go, she's pretty smart and I'm sure in no time when she sees the needle she'll know what's coming & make a run for it, but until then all's well.

Fingers crossed for you, Lizzie.

I am glad the insulin shot went well, Lolly. I can remember when I was going through cancer treatment and one of my doctor's asked me if I had ever given a shot before, as I would have to give myself shots. I told him, "Well, I grew up on a farm and my father's a diabetic." He just kind of stared at me, and I said, "I've probably given almost as many shots as you have. Not quite, but we're easily in the 10s of thousands." Is the shot sub-q or IM? I can't imagine how you would give a cat an IM shot... I gave one of our cats shots (steroids) and that was sub-q.

Tonight I cleaned the fridge, made dinner, washed half the pillows, put the diapers in the wash, straightened up the house, and then made a shopping list for tomorrow. I am finishing unwinding by watching a little Perry Mason and having a half glass of wine and a Zevia (stevia-sweetened soda).

I hope it'll turn out well for you, Lizzie. I truly do. :thumb:

Oh..
There are folks who enjoy the heat and high humidity (my mom being one of them); but myself, I don't like it. It hard to handle, going to work under those conditions, getting all sweaty by the time I hit the office - and then I have to spen the entire day in a post-sweat environment.

I gave Mango (our cat) her first shot of insulin this morning.
My heart goes out to you. Hopefuly, your struggle will pay up.

..

Last night was a good night for me.
The air was clear after the rain, so I could relax more. Daily activities were sweat-free, so the evening came smootly. I do tend to lean toward being such a lazy person in the evening (after a hard day), and I tend to turn into a horrible "couch potato". Thankfuly, last night I've decided to step away from the PC, and turn on the radio. This gave me the time to do some letter-writing.

I went thru this with my girl Keesa, who had kidney disease -- I had to inject fluid twice a day to keep her functioning. The only way I could do it was to get her in my lap almost to the point of falling asleep, and then slip the needle into the loose skin at the back of her shoulders. I had to drain about half a bag of fluid into her until a little pouch formed under her skin. As long as she was relaxed before I injected her, she took it fine -- but if I stuck her in the wrong place, I wouldn't see her again for the rest of the day.

Last night I indulged myself with a huckleberry ice cream cone and watching the finale of the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. It was delicious!

Well, the appraiser seemed impressed today, and allowed that $102,000 is not at all an unreasonable offer. And nothing exploded or fell apart in front of him, so that's a good sign. We'll know for sure in a week or so.

Meanwhile, tonite I am cleaning shards of broken glass out of my shoes after a delivery of bottled drinks slipped and tipped over on me at work today. I caught most of the boxes, but didn't get one of them -- and about a dozen bottles smashed on the floor, dousing me and the floor with sticky residue and bits of glass. I keep reminding myself about the glamour of show business.

I startled the deliveryman with a particularly ripe bit of cursing, using words I don't think he'd ever heard.

That is *wonderful* news Lizzie!

I spent the night making veggies burgers and mini-omelettes to put up in the freezer. Husband is home tonight (a rare treat because of our housing situation) so we are going to watch an epsiode of 24 online with come pop corn and some Tom Collins.

Great news Lizzie, I hope the rest of the sale goes smoothly.
Mango seems to be used to the twice daily shots now. The first time she cried & hid under the bed, but now we can give her an injection & she doesn't even flinch, which is great, less stress for her (and us).
This evening I'll be giving Mango her shot, preparing something healthy for dinner (I've been trying to lose weight for the past 3 months, 22lbs gone so far) and maybe watching a few episodes of Poirot.

I'd like to have more good days like this. :D

..

Last night, I was quite tired from all the weed-pulling and leaves-collecting. I came from work yesterday, realized the day was too nice to be spent in any other way than outdoors. Once outside, the eyes got pulled to all the work that needed to be done. We had a massive rain few days ago, and it left my yard filled with leaves. The problem lays in the fact that those leaves that fell on ground became soggy. So I had to give it a few days to dry out in order to be able to get to it (without making a mess) and get it out. There was a lot of leaves, dry twigs... and it took me some good two and a half hours to get it all out.
Once that was done, so was I.
So, I've spent the evening watching re-run of last year's Tour de France. :D

After a week of being out past midnight every night, I've decided to spend this Saturday evening in. I had a tiring (but fun) day filled with work and canoeing, and am now lying in bed watching Nowhere Boy and eating sweet cherries and dark chocolate chips.

A long and exhausting night at work -- we had two live shows featuring a popular regional comedian, and I got to cut off service to a blind-stinking-drunk woman who could barely walk up the stairs. She declined my offer of a free bottle of water and demanded a free popcorn instead, which I declined to offer because I could see myself having to clean it up off the carpet within minutes. Usually I have to deal with far worse situations during such shows, so I guess I got an easier time than usual.

Now, riddled with insomnia, I'm poring over mortgage documents in a cold sweat and trying not to obsess over everything that could go wrong over the next three weeks. Rest and relaxation, what's that?

Another exhausting day here -- spent the morning driving around with a carload of empty bottles from the theatre looking for a redemption center that was open, and finally found one in the next town. Driving around for an hour and a half on a hot day in a car with no AC with $34 worth of not-entirely-empty soda and beer bottles is something less than "fun." Follow that with 110 people showing up for the evening movie, which is great for the bottom line but always hard on my nerves.

And still no word yet on the appraisal. Figuring I might as well torment myself a little more, I just dug out the old one that sunk me when I tried to buy the place in 2012 and noticed that the main reason it was so low was the meth lab three doors up from me. Yeah, well, that's been gone for two years, so they better not hold it against me this time.

Sitting here eating my cottage cheese and trying to get whatever's in my system out of my system so I can get some sleep.

Good luck! I hope all goes well.

I had similar problems here a few years ago. The suburban nitwit who bought the house next door, with a view toward flipping it immediately, lost interest when he realized that he would actually have to cut the hayfield (ahem, back yard) once in a while. People who live "in the county" (outside of the city) seem to think that St. Louisans are a bunch of gun-toting oxy-addicted ne'er-do-wells. He couldn't believe it when we asked the alderman to force him to take care of the property. He gave up in disgust when he couldn't find a buyer, ripped out all the appliances and dumped the place for about half its market value.

Since every tiny 1000-square-foot 1920s bungalow on this street is identical, you can imagine what that did to everyone's property values.

Anyway, I just got back from visiting my sick pal (the one I forced to go to the ER last week & who, it turned out, had had a massive heart attack) and am now watching silly Hallmark Christmas movies for some reason. By the way, ladies, please memorize the symptoms of a heart attack and please don't be too proud or heroic to go straight to the ER, or to force friends or family members there, even if they argue.

Working a split shift today at the restaurant. I'll probably get off around 9 P.M. Looking forward to making chicken tacos when I get home and working on some watercolour illustrations. I'll go for a nighttime run if it doesn't storm out.

Today would have been my Mums 68th birthday, I had lunch with Dad & had a discussion with him about what life would've been like if she was still alive. A sad day, but nice to spend time with Dad.
This evening I dosed the cat. The insulin doesn't seem to be making any difference, she's still drinking just as much water as she did before she was diagnosed and she's still losing weight. The next option is doubling the insulin dose. I'll call the vet tomorrow.

Good luck at the vets, for both of you. I hope you're able to spend a lot of time comforting her thru all this, it'll be good for both of you.

Meanwhile, I have finally gotten the appraisal back, and it came thru at $110 thousand, which gives me a chance to exhale, at least partially. I still have pinch every nickel for the rest of the month to make sure I can meet the closing costs, but if I manipulate billing on my writing jobs a bit, I should be able to make it. I won't completely exhale until I've got the deed in my hand, but I'm pretty sure that tonight, at least, I shall sleep.

These are good news, Lizzie.
Try to relax, and give yourself a bit of "all is well" mantra. For some odd reason - it works (after it's been repeated long enough).

Tonight is rest night.
I had a massive event on Saturday, where I was standing on my feet in one place, greeting the guests at the gate from 18:00 'till 23:00. Yesterday we went on a long cycling route. So, tonight - I give it a rest. :D
