WOW!

I started reading this thread and thinking of the things I wanted to say to each of you, but by the end there were just too many! You all look so beautiful. I'm inspired and envious (but in the right proportions!).

Here are some of my outfits... these are the real ones, are we allowed to post repro stuff???

For Selwyn College Cambridge Snowball (I know it would have looked better with a heels, but ten hours on my feet in them? No thanks!). The dress is real 1930s - it belonged to "F. Craddock" (there's a name tag), and I think it was her posh nightie, but I wanted a very plain dress! It's got some sweet lace detail around the front, and I was wearing beautiful FF stockings:

And some more flowers at the back of the head (flattering shot of my friend...!)...

This dress is fantastic, but I can't find a photo I really like of me wearing it... it's real 1940s and hardly any wear and tear (pretty unusual for wartime clothes, I think). The jacket is newer than that, but it has a really nice "V" (for Victory, naturally) pin on it that you might be able to see if you squint!

Here's one a little closer up, so you can see the detail on the front...

This dress is real 1940s too, at the Cambridge Union Society Valentine's Ball... the beading on it is beautiful. It's so low cut that I am wearing a vest under it though!

And this is a full-length (although not very flattering!) photo of the same dress:

So there are a few photos, any comments would be appreciated... I'm a poor student and a difficult size for vintage... not so much on the waist, but I don't think breasts the size of mine existed pre-1980...! Plus, I'm tall and my feet are too big for vintage shoes. Very disheartening at times!

Thank you for the offer Klara, it’s extremely kind of you, but alas, they always fashioned them for lovely shapely legs- most unlike the shape of my horrid, stick like legs!:( I just thought I would ask on the off chance that they were a new miracle pair of stockings, that looked authentic and lovely, whilst having lycra in for the awkward custards like me!.... I know pigs might have flown first- but if you don’t ask……;)
(oh and I forgot to mention about your shoes too- Fabulous)

So I don’t take this thread too much off topic (Sorry) Here’s a pic from last years summer hols- should have worn a darker lipstick- I’m all teeth!:D

I shouldn't be dificult for you to find nice and well fitting stockings with lycra that also look reasonably authentic. Have you ever tried Jonathan Ashton stockings; they come in black and natural:

http://www.stockingsdirect.co.uk/stockings-seamed/jonathan-aston-lycra-seam-heel-stockings.html

At Stockingsdirect you can also find opaque stockings, also with lycra, e.g.:

These stockings are not even expensive...!

Greetings from Jannie

Here is the outfit I wore for a day of picnic-ing and badminton with my children in the Spring sunshine. Reproduction navy blue swing trousers from Heyday Vintage, red boots from Vegetarian Shoes, heart print short trench bought as vintage from eBay (possibly late 50s), red sun hat with white polka dots bought as new from eBay.

^^ Really cute trench!

I got to dress up twice this past weekend! Decided that I can't bear to do wool skirts anymore so I've paired my cotton florals with my winter sweaters. A happy medium and so much more cheerful! :)

Thanks all for your kindness.

CrazyDaisy, I love all your outfits! I notice a lot of knits... are they your creations?

My mother is the knitter. I am planning to learn too, although with my little patience for anything the prospects are bleak :)

Crazy Daisy You really have the edge on style. A really great ambassador for the UK!

Sunny day in Chichester today. I'm wearing my new polka dot dress and custom belt, which happens to match perfectly :) Excuse the goofy expression and bad posture.

I could have put this in the "Show us your purchases" thread as I just bought it today, but holy smokes! This dress outshines almost everything in my closet! A late '50s Suzy Perette in black chiffon, awesome drape, and fits like I was born in it! *swoon* I tried to take a serious photo, but it looked like I was on my way to a funeral. And honestly, this dress makes me feel like a million. I couldn't help it! I think I'm in love with portrait collars. :)

Drappa - I LOVE the dress even more now (the belt is a perfect match) - you look fabulous!

BoPeep - that dress is beautiful on you - I love Suzy Perette designs too. It's great when you get a vintage dress and it's like it was made for you.

My husband and I went out to dinner last night so I took some quick snaps before I headed out - they're not the best photos but you get the idea! I've lost some weight recently so I just realised the dress is a little loose on me:
