New Dress Ideas
I like how the first dress you can button up or down for a V neck. Then they show with jackets and without. Oh and the red one!

And last but not least, a survey of men and what they find attractive about women!

1. Good complexion
2. Good figure
3. Good teeth
4. Nice hair
5. Good clothes
6. Pretty hands
7. Pretty feet

When asked what detail of grooming do most women neglect- it was their hair! And the pet peeve was greasy hair and "artificial-looking marcels"- fingerwaves?

63% prefer brunettes, 29% blondes, and 8% redheads

And perfume throws men off their emotional balance

But 70% are in favor of lipstick

Mind if I add this to the '30s basics' thread? I dont want this thread to get lost later down the line.

PLEASE can I step back to 1934 now? lol

I love women's magazines for all their different content and this is great. I love all the frocks and the 'knitteds'. The kitchen is certainly pretty different to what you would have got in England at the time!

Sure, whatever works best :) Glad ya'll are enjoying them.

BTW I was really surprised at the size of these magazines. They are 11" x 14" and have 150+ pages. A lot of ads too- just like they do today ;)

Oh and here are the covers too:

April- Easter bonnets!

Fantastic Material...

Dear Texasgirl,
What a wonderful resource you've provided for us...thank you! This was not accomplished without a lot of work, I think.

Ha! These are great. I personally live to "throw men off of their emotional balance," and I intend to refer to myself as a "sub-debutante" from now on.

On the subject of sub-debutantes...there is a cute and funny old novel by Mary Roberts Rinehart called "Bab: A Sub-Deb", about the misadventures of a sub-debutante...it's available free to download on Manybooks.net.
