Ladies, HELP!! Hat Troubles...

Ok, so I bought this gorgeous black wool felt hat at the flea market for a ridiculous price (she charged me $3 and this hat is pristine. She said it was just meant for me) But here's the catch. I have NO IDEA how this hat is supposed to be worn. It hard to describe the hat itself and I don't think the pictures really do it a heck of a lot of justice. the part with the pleats where the bow is kind of stands up. If I wear the 'v' part on the back of my head with the part that flips up towards the front it looks a bit like a bonnet and looks kind of funny, but it looks strange with the flipped up part to the side and doesn't sit quite right.....I'm stumped! The lady wasn't completely sure how to wear it either. I'm not even completely sure which decade this is from but I loved the hat and would love to wear it...I just can't figure it out

I have no idea as I've never worn any hat besides a baseball cap (I know you all are shuddering at the thought!), but it is absolutely adorable!

Very nice! I'd wear it as either a halo hat (set back on the crown of the head, so that the brim is slightly tilted upward, forming a 'halo', or frame around your face) or tilted forward and down over one eye. I'd have to see how the hat sits on the wearer's head to decide which way I liked best though. :)

Ok so I tried it a couple of different ways like suggested. And since nothing quite beats the opinion of other gals here are the pics the way I think jitterbugdoll ment. If I'm way off please let me know, I've been too afraid to wear hats in the past and I'm trying to get past that because I love them so much and have built a small collection that just gathers dust.
Please pardon the no makeup bad hair part, I'm not leaving the house today and I never got around to making myself look presentable

Obviously any way I wear it will look far nicer with hair and make-up done...

What a wonderful hat, Nasoba.

I like the first version of the hat, jauntily swooning to the right. It's does look great on you! Well done!

But black is such a tough color to help make the best decision on how to wear about. I say, go with your gut on which style makes you smile! (Hey there's a nice rhyme!)

I kinda like the third photo, swooping down to the left -- but either side works well. A lot will depend on how you wear your hair, but I think this general approach, which ever side you tilt it on, is the way to go.

I have a hat similar to this, in a dark blue instead of black, and when I wear it I'll often spice it up with a pinned-on flower or some other sort of bright-colored ornament that picks up a color in the rest of my outfit. There's no rules on this -- experiment a bit and have fun!

I like the first photo the best, but think all of them look nice. What a wonderful hat, not only is is gorgeous but it is also versatile. Great find! :eusa_clap

Thank you all so much! I take it out every couple of weeks and just stare at it cause I was afraid to wear it and look silly :). Should have known to ask here sooner! When I get up the guts to wear it out with my hair done, I'll be sure to take pictures and post!
