That's outstanding! I love James Cromwell, aka Zephram Cochrane, Farmer Hoggett, Stretch Cunningham... and Prince Philip in The Queen...

Trivia: Did you know he's the son of the director John Cromwell, who did lots of great Hollywood films in the 30s and 40s?

Cromwell was also appropriately gangling and grave as William Randolph Hearst in RKO 281, the "making of Citizen Kane" docudrama. Melanie Griffith made a dead-on Marion Davies, and Orson Welles was played by the incredibly talented Liev Schreiber.

Cromwell is also great on the stage as well. I was lucky enough to see him play A.E. Housman in Tom Stoppard's play, _The Invention of Love_ a few years back.

Great shots there Boyo! Now go keep the streets safe...

BTW Brian..."Have you a valediction, boyo? "

So, was this a special screening in Dublin? some sort of film festival?

It's funny, because he always seems to have 'that' typical Irish-American accent, yet he's not from Ireland [huh] But I love it when he plays a bad guy!!
Interesting casting when he played Prince Philip in "The Queen" opposite Dame Helen!

James Cromwell has such range as an actor from Star Trek, to Six Feet Under, to LA Confidential, to The Queen. He's always been top notch no matter the role.

Very cool! Mr. Cromwell was shopping in my store a couple of years ago, and seemed like a nice guy. All my co-workers were whispering "That's the guy from Six Feet Under!" and I was like "NOOO...that's Lt. Dudley Smith!!"

Our justice must be swift and merciless

Just a few of Dudley's great quotes...

Go back to Jersey, Sonny. This is the City of the Angels and you haven't got any wings.
Don't start tryin' to do the right thing, boy-o. You haven't the practice.
I doubt you've ever taken a stupid breath. Don't start now.
You're a bit of a puzzlement to me these days, Wendell. You don't seem to be your old cruel self anymore. And I had such grand plans for your future.

I admire you as a policeman, particularly your adherence to violence as a necessary adjunct to the job.

I always like to hear that somebody who seems so cool at a remove actually is a nice guy in person. an extremely versatile actor, never seen him be less than convincing in anything he's been in. One of those people you can recognise, but just see him as the character, and not "that famous person pretending to be X."

Great picture! That's too cool!

Tall, ain't he? In my brief, and semi-embarassing, encounter the gent I was amazed at the angle of my nect when speaking with him. And ALL three or four of his sons look just like him, height and all!
