Sharpetoye,
I have a question regarding Randalls. My father has a couple that he got while serving in the Army. One of them is a kit knife that he put together (#5) and the other is a Model 3. I got the knife bug at an early age and ordered a Randall that I waited on for about 3.5 years or so. I got the knife back in the late 80's while in high school. It wasn't long after I got my knife that Bo Randall died. I have been told you can tell the year of manufacture by the colored spacers under the hilt...can you confirm this for me? Do you think the knives that were made before Bo died hold a premium over the current made knives? My #5 had a 5" blade with saw back, nickle hilt, SS blade and my name etched. I think if I had to do it over again I would go with the carbon blade and not the SS model. I have carried and used it quite a bit and gone through one sheath already. I have had my eyes on the Bird and Trout model for a long time....something about that knife is really cool...especially with the U2 ties. I saw one on ebay a while back with a commando style handle and a double hilt that looked awesome....Probably not the most practical for hunting but it looked great. Anyho...another Randall fan here!

That knife looks similar to one of the knives I've made in the past. Interesting.

Of course my preference twords custom knives are the Daniel Winkler knives.

Some are real works of art, while others aren't too pretty but they get the job done. I've styled a few of mine after his.

Cheers!

Well, I love the Opinels for bow (palm) making, since they cut the notches and outer stands well. I got a swiss card which is awsome, and I highly recomend it. I want to get a sheath knife, but I will see.

Nothing like a wildcard post

In my town is a customer knifemaker since the twenties. Warther Knives.

http://www.warthers.com

Mooney Warther made custom blades for the soldiers of WW2 who were local. They are quite collectible today. He was also a scary-talented woodcarver. He was Swiss.
Mainly they turn out kitchen knives today. You can see they have an extensive museum.

Here's a Viking blade I picked up in the winter. It was made for recent movie, picked it up for a good price.

I have tons of swords too, but they're just wooden training weapons for martial arts.

Have to dig out my other blades....

Sorry Bruce, I can't figure this thing out. I gotta' dig out my dentist case, I think you'll be impressed. The throwing implemnets have to be the best. You can pick up Nine inch nails from the hardware store, and just sharpen them. Then you got authentic Japense/Roman darts.

Leatherman

Here are my two Leathermans:
The Lower one is the original style that I got in the mid to late 80's.
The other larger one is the Supertool version with locking blades / fold outs which was a much needed improvement.

I also have a Leatherman Squirt with the little scissors. [huh]

Cold Steel

This is a Cold Steel folder I got from the Cold Steel guys when they used to bring a ton of stuff to the Great Western Gun Show at the LA Fairgrounds in Pomona, CA. (Thanks Zev! :rage: )

Any way this is a Tanto point with a seraded section that has a pocket clip on the otherside. These were made for the Gunsite facilities that does the tactical firearms training. I think they are in Arizona. It has the little leverage button on the blade that assits with opening and it's a smooth opener. I have used it when camping to cut thru "tin" cans to fashion stuff, and it is still as sharp as ever.

Ek Knife - late edition.

I came across this probably 20 years ago for a decent price. It is a simple paracord wrapped handle and the double edge blade is quite sharp. That point is like a pin. The blade is a little under 6" with an overall length of about 10-5/8" & a very flat package.
