Kingsman x Mister Freedom Leather Jacket

I agree with @high-maintenance that the new Kingsman film isn't as good as the first, but there are some great clothes in it.

Pedro Pascal's character, Whiskey, got to rock what's probably the coolest piece, a black leather jacket.

Turns out that this is a modified Mister Freedom Campus Jacket. It's made from a 2 to 3 oz black steerhide, not the lighter lambskin, and has a different collar. Christophe Loiron has written a blog post outlining the changes, as well as a picture of him pulling it off better than Pedro did.

The jacket's available from Mr Porter, and Mister Freedom will have a few online soon. I'd be tempted, but I think that the 44 will be a size too small for me.

Certainly a cool jacket. Reminds me a lot of the shawl collared varieties but I really like the dress collar as well.
I haven't seen either film but the second one looks like west world meets the matrix crossed with Austin powers...I'll withhold any judgement 'til it hits the box, but from the looks of things this jacket might be the best part of the movie.

Love this jacket! I've always thought that the campus jacket is one of the best MF pieces ever.

I'm looking at getting something similar in the near future, but in a light tan color like the normal version. I love that style of jacket.

I never got the enthusiasm for Kingsman (why is the name of the group singular not plural? Upper-class toffs who don't even have a grasp of basic grammar?). A secretive group of unelected and unaccountable privately rich people altering the course of society with no mandate. They ought to be the bad guys!

Yeah, I agree and like many action films I've seen it has that irritating combination of the bombastic with the superficial - the real hero is CGI and the real bad guy is the writer.

No, 007 is a servant of The Crown, not the people. In the UK, authority flows downwards from the sovereign monarch to the ubject people at the bottom. Complete opposite from the US notion of a sovereign people. I actually rather liked that they're a private organisation; the old military / loyalty to the crown thing has been rather overdone by this point, and this felt fresh. I'm sure there's a lot more to it than they portrayed in the film, but I'm not familiar with the source material. In terms of the grammatical issue, the answer is simple: "Kingsman" is a play on "Huntsman", one of the more well-known tailoring houses on Savile Row. The frontage of the tailoring shop used in the film is actually the real Huntsman relabelled.

The jacket looks nice. Having now seen several trusted reviews of the new film, we're going to sit it out until it appears on Netflix. We both recently saw the first one, and while enjoying it, there was just the niggling disappointment of the unnecessary, misogynist joked at the end (I know what they were trying to do viz Roger Moore era Bond, but it didn't work in our opinion). Per trusted reviews, this sequel drops much of what was very good about the first film in favour of several missteps and amping up the negative side, so it does'nt feel like one we want to spend cinema-money on. A pity, but it would hardly be the first spy spoof where a sublime opener is let down by sub-par sequels (yes, Austin Powers, I'm looking at you!).

The blurb says that it's made in the UK, though it doesn't mention who the supplier is.

I agree it's a great jacket, there are some really nice details in it. Unfortunately, there are only a few sizes left, so you might be out of luck.

Hmm, I agree with Seb on that coat.

I like WWII Duffel coats. I think they look good, and are iconic (RN movies, the WWII SAS), but I never wear the one I bought because I'm old enough to remember when Duffel Coats were sported by dirty unwashed sandal wearing students with acoustic guitars, and whenever I try to wear mine, that image pops up and ruins it for me.

The same goes for this coat. If you really are a gnarly old cowboy out riding the ranch in winter, it's cool. But I'm old enough to remember when this style was many a poor mans idea of class. It reminds me of every crooked mayor, organiszed crime syndicate lieutenant, pimp, and guy who wanted to sell me a microwave from the trunk of his car, that I ever saw.

I guess there's a whole generation that's been born and grown up since then, so maybe they can enjoy it without the cultural baggage?
I can't coz I'm into clothes precisely because of their cultural significance.
