Hi Guys, right, I have narrowed my search for a fedora similar to Johnny Depp’s grey one down to three hats now with my budget taken into consideration.. My dress sense is casual/ smart, I would just like your opinions on which one you would all go for in my position AND what colour do you think either hat would look the BEST in?

If it were me I'd stay away from this one, it looks like it will lead to disappointment

I'd avoid the wool felt one - there's a thread here where someone bought one and had all sorts of problems.

The Queens Dress Hat looks quite nice.

P.S. I did take a look at what I had, but nothing in that size and style I'm afraid.

If your goal is to get something that looks like Mr. Depp's hat, then this last one would be the one I'd go for.

I've never seen a Biltmore hat, but they seem to have a decent reputation.

You just need to buy it then beat it up until it has a few holes and you'd be all set

Have you considered an Akubra??? They have many styles and make quite a fine hat...perhaps it would cost you less and be nicer as well! Steer clear of dodgy Ebay auctions...don't get me wrong there are some fine hats to be had but MANY sellers make errors in sizing and condition of the listed items!

I'll second staying away from wool - especially at the price of that auction. Akubra's Fed IV comes in a color called 'moonstone' that you might like. And the Fed IV's proportions are closer to the Depp hat than the Millers you linked to.

No, silver belly is much closer to white than that. I'd say Sahara. Tawny Fawn has more brown tones.

Any auction or site that has a picture of Johnny Depp I would stay away from. The two Miller hats look nice. You want a large brim if you want to do the "Hollywood" brim so loved by Mr. Depp.
