I very seriously considered a roo hide jacket as an ultimate light weight jacket. Unfortunately, Aero run off the roo hides and according to Holly they do not intend to restock it. :(

We recently found a little bit of Kangaroo that had been put away in the wrong place and covered with some other hides. After making Lemon328i jacket we have enough for 1 more jacket ( depending on the size and style ) at the moment we have no intentions of restocking. It is a great leather but it is very costly to get to Scotland and the skins are surprisingly small making it unsuitable to some styles in bigger sizes.

Living here in Australia I see plenty of kangaroo hides for sale at markets etc. All are hair on hide complete and some are enormous. Never seen any leather for sale that is finished for leather goods. I guess they are sold to manufacturers only.

lol Nick, you're full of puns lately. But the laudable theft is my all time favorite.

That Kangaroo looks mighty nice! I wonder if it really is of such legendary durability and strength as the stories claim... I can't really say why, though, but as much as I like it, I (myself, personally) wouldn't feel right wearing a roo. I find them too similar to people.

Not to worry M, humans are primates and kangaroos are marsupials. No similarity other than both being mammals:).

The jacket has been comfortable so far in 75 deg F heat. Shoulders are probably an inch wider than I needed but I am very pleased with it overall. Here's fit pics buttoned & unbuttoned.

Since Aero has enough kangaroo for one more, someone could score a wonderful jacket. An Aeromarine in kangaroo would be pretty killer.

The advice I got from Mars Leathers here is that most jacket quality roo is sold overseas. It's been very hard to obtain down here - except for the C grade hides you find at markets, etc. That advice is 6 years old.

Monitor roo is as tough as they say - very dense and thin and with amazing tensile strength. They are pests down here, like big gophers or squirrels.

Beautiful jacket! I really like it. I think the shoulders and overall fit look great! Nobody's ever 100% happy with their jacket. I know I'm not. There is always something about the fit that I wish was a little better. If that was my jacket I would be very happy with it.
