Maybe I'm too much of a purist? But this reb_bel type III inspired jacket makes my eyes bleed:

-elongated body
-handwarmer pockets (they have no business on a type III
-ball and chain zipper pull (those belong to 30s / early 40s style jackets, the type III is a late 60s design)
-30s style zipper pull

The people who made this thing clearly don't have a clue what they're doing. To top it all off they've thrown in a couple of 'rugged menswear' instagram buzzword hashtags.

I'd say this very much falls into the "vintage inspired" category, hence, yes, the inter-mixing of different bits and inspirations. I don't have an issue with that in theory (though in practice it wouldn't be my preference). I don't care for handwarmers on a Type 3, but then TBH I don't much care for the Type III at all, it's been rather overdone for my tastes in recent decades. What would really bug me, though, is the overlong torso: I don't mind hip-length jackets, or blazer length or whatever, but they need, imo, to be designed to suit those proportions. Simply elongating a waist-length jacket (even if it is to bring it down to reach the trouser "waistband" cut to sit four inches below the natural waist) just makes it look all wrong to me. Don't even get me started on the mix of black and brown - I'm already twitching...

I find this sort of thing fun. Let's face it, it's supposed to be a form of art, this sort of thing is never intended to be worn on the street. Interesting to see its influences combined like that, though I can't for a minute imagine it would be easy to wear. I can see it being a costume piece in some sort of future-set scifi epic. Somewhat inevitably, though, I think it would look better were it waist-length.... The sunglasses look sadly eighties to me, the shoes could have come straight from Camden High Street. Perspex heels must be a nightmare - one scratch, and they will look bad.

The jacket is perfection! But shoes seem a little bland to me… Maybe something more:

This reminded me of all of us being accused, due to our preference for a neat retro fit, of being big fans of some brand I had never heard of, so I decided to look up their jackets:

Interestingly, none of these seem to be anywhere close to our supposedly trend-chasing preference in jacket fit.

I can only imagine that this brand is a money-laundering scheme.

I don't understand to whom are they advertising this? I honestly don't believe that anyone wants to look like this. The person who wears this is the most boring person in the entire world. Nobody wants to know him, let alone be him.

It's certainly not going to find much of a market in these parts, with so many of us still around who actively don't want to wear 'modern'. I wouldn't say it was any more or less offensive than mist of what I see on the High Street to be honest - just very much not my thing. It does, however, strike me as a strange choice for a brand that has built its reputation on vintage-inspired leather jackets. Other leather jacket makers have made sideways moves, of course. Aero, for one, now does a tweed suit and other, non-leather clothing bits. Lewis do jeans (which are not motorcycle PPE). Thing is, those fit in the general vibe - Lewis' rocker heritage, Aero's pre-1960 style clothing. I can't quite imagine someone who likes vintage style leather jackets opting to spend big money on something like the one in the picture. A b3, sure. But this design? When - if it pleases you aesthetically - any number of high street companies will make something qualitatively very decent in this vein for a fraction of the price? I'm sure they know their market much better than I do, and good luck to them, but it does seem a strange change of direction.

That makes sense. Puts me in mind of 90s hip hop. It's not a look that's for me, though I have learned to appreciate it in terms of the care that goes into putting it together - mainly, I have to admit, through having experienced most of the on-street compliments of my own style - fedoras, suits and the likes - coming from hip-hop kids who know all about putting a look together. Back in the 90s I was at the punk rock end of grunge. My style icon was Joey Ramone.

Interesting that you and I struggle to see the difference between the expensive bits and the cheap tat with that look which is alien to us - perhaps an insight into how outsiders view our niche!

This oversize trend has been going on for a while. I was in college in the 90s, things were baggier than now, but not like this. These fits are like kids wearing big and tall sized clothing. And how are the waist so wide? Are they wearing a steel hoop underneath there?

I was wondering about the same thing & it did take me a while to figure it out.
The numbers provided by the online stores that sell this clothes indicate that the waist is indeed normal but, however, you'll note that on all of the photos of these fits (even the ones I posted), the wearers stuff their hands into the pockets and what they do is out-stretch them toward the sides as far as it goes, to achieve looking morbidly obese.

There is a massive amount of material pouring out of the waist band as this clothes is intended for thin, young people and their whole gig is "enjoying sports and healthy lifestyle".
