Hi All,

New here and very glad I found this website. After much reading, I've ordered the BP from Aussie Bush Hats. Unfortunately, they sent me an email and said it would be 10-12 weeks before shipment. I definitely would have liked to have known that at the time of order.

I searched many of the websites and they seemed to have the best price but now I wait :(

That's a nice Akubra model :) I checked prices and you saved about $3.00 and get to wait almost 3 months whereas if you had ordered your hat from David Morgan you would have it in about 3 days to any State here in the US. Except for styles exclusive to Australia ie the Campdraft, CEO, Bogart for example, DM is where I get my Akubra's from. They might cost a bit more but my time does have some value as well :) Let us see some pics when you get it !

I hear ya, it was about $30 cheaper. Maybe I should cancel and order thru DM. :)

That's a good savings. Was looking at HDs site and saw the BP is now at $151.00 US and they quoted me $28.00 shpg last year when I enguired about a CD which would make it $179.00 US and DM's price would be $173.50 shpg included. Guess I'll just pay more but not have as long a wait :)

Not sure how soon you have to have it but keep an eye on Noggintops here in the states as well. They stock certain models of Akubra including the BP. They have sales throughout the year and sometimes even offer free shipping over a certain amount as well as coupon codes (if you are on their mailing list). Interestingly they obtain their Akubras from David Morgan who is the US distributor but DM never has Akubras on sales, unless they are closeouts or discontinued items.

I purchased two Banjo Patersons from Noggintops last year for $120 and $130.

Everything Australian in OZ stocks the Heritage Fawn BP and it is $129 (as of today's currency rate). Sam usually ships out fairly fast as well.

They are great people to work with. I am dropping off a hat I won on ebay for cleaning. The only problem is I find it hard to leave without a new hat.

I have had better luck with getting Akubras in a more timely fashion from David Morgan, and they are packed well. Not to bash another vendor, but the last two hats I ordered from nog------s had been packed in boxes too small for the hat and were damaged. They did take them back and cheerfully refunded my money plus my return shipping costs. All my Akubras bought from hatsdirect have arrived safe and sound, too.

Having bought my first Akubra, a Bushman, directly from David Morgan when his firm was called Austral Enterprises 32 years ago, I've been getting my Akubra's from him except for two of my Stylemasters which I got from John Helmer in Portland. I enquired about a two colors of the Stylemaster which he did not carry and he recomended JH in Portaland to get them from!! He did not sell them but did wholesale them to JM and was nice enough to recomend I go to them. THAT'S true customer service in my mind. Besides, he makes and sells some really GREAT braided Kangaroo hatbands which look GREAT on Akubra's :)

I got my two BP's from Noggintops about 4 years ago, and later got a Territory from DM. Both good folks to deal with, quick shipment and good packing.

I have probably worn the Heritage Fawn BP more than any other hat I have, and the charcoal one less, just like the lighter more natural earth tones better, but it is a fantastic hat casual enough but yet not too casual, and can fit some moderately dressy occasions.

well, they canceled the order since it was such a long wait and now I have to decide where to purchase. Looks like DelMonico has the best price. Question?
I'm just a hair over 23", should I order the 59 or go with a 60?

I have always ordered my Akubra's bigger ( I wear a 59cm and order a 60cm) as they tend to "size down" with wear in the rain and sweat from my head. These are Imperial grade felt and I don't know about the Heritage grade but I imagine it would be similar.
