Don't be afraid to get that Akubra felt a little wet and work the brim into shape. You can also use a regular old iron to flatten the brim out, provided you place a clean, dry press cloth inbetween (clean sheets or a pillow case have worked for me)/

Thanks for the suggestions guys but I love the snowy's rolled rim. I have had a go at nursing my new one back to health and I think it at least looks a little better than when it came out of the box...

Just found this thread as I recently had the same issue but when I reached out to Hats by the 100 they did tell me of a recent increase in damaged products from items sitting a long time because of no flights leaving Australia when I reached out the lady was lovely to deal with and all I had to do was send the hat back and they sent me a replacement as well as a free hat pin as compensation. I asked about this forum when talking to the lady and she informed me that you didn't really reach out or make an effort to ship the hat back, seems like you got the hat looking perfect so that's all that matters in the end.

My experience was the opposite from your. Hats that are shipped in boxes that are too small will cause the hats to distort even if shipping company does everything right. You shouldn’t have to work on a new hat to fix distortions caused by improper packaging. It’s like saying all you have to do is install the missing spark plug in the brand new car you just bought and since it then runs perfectly you have nothing to complain about. The hat should arrive undamaged. Hats-by-the-Hundred tried to convince me to try to fix my hat rather than them making It right. There are too many of these stories; they have a pattern of poor shipping and poor customer service. I’m glad it worked out for you, but when I have better options, often less expensive, with better customer service, and hats that ship in real hat boxes (double boxed), I’ll stick with the other sellers.

IDK i've ordered from these guys a few times and this is the first time i've ever had an issue, I've noticed a couple of issues in other things i've recently ordered online, I got a pair of shoes shipped to me and the box had totally fallen apart, they came from Aus too so figured with the increase in packages from COVID that maybe the couriers have been doing a crap job too? I've never had luck with Everything Australian, they have sent me the incorrect sizes a few times so I don't deal with them anymore, maybe some people are loyal to Everything Australian and some are loyal to Hats By the 100. The box it was sent in was a fine size but I ordered a Cattleman, the way it came looked like the box was placed the wrong way and was sitting sideways for a while, like on its side? When I asked the customer service lady told me international packages just sit on the flight docks in rain or shine, so that might be why things arrived damaged? IDK I just think people expect too much these days. IDK i guess im more of a blame the courier not the company

They gave me a generic email asking for photos and it had a link to show me how to fix it? When i sent through the photos though they offered me a replacement? I think they just tell people they can fix it themselves to save the customer having to post it all the way back? idk it was the same thing when i reached out to Everything Australian, they showed me how to stretch the hat instead of offering me a replacement.

My issue is that the hat was shipped in the box that was obviously far too small for it. They routinely do that whereas the other retailers don’t. There’s no excuse for a hat company to ever ship a hat in a box that causes it to deform due to the box being too small. They know the box is too small when they put the hat in but they just don’t care. I’m never buying from them again.

I buy and sell on Ebay a fair bit and the extra time in transit definitely takes a toll on the boxes. But my position as a seller that cares about customer service is it is on ME the shipper to understand the conditions and pack appropriately. If you pack a hat properly it should arrive in good shape regardless of the toll the rough handling has on the packaging. As a seller I can blame the carrier all I want but that sure doesn't make my client feel any better about the experience of dealing with me the seller. If I want the customer to come back I spend the extra few dollars and pack it according to the conditions.

I agree with belfastboy and deadlyhandsome, the point with my snowy was that it was stuffed into a box that was too narrow for the width of brim and too shallow for the crown height so became deformed. If a new hat is packed properly it should not make a difference how long it is in the box, it will be perfect when it arrives. The box itself was in good condition- no dents or holes, so it was nothing to do with the shippers being too rough with it. As for HBH, they gave me that 'reaching out' lecture by email and I told them where to go. It is one thing when goods are damaged or lost because of circumstances beyond anyone's control but when some numpty does not know when something is obviously too big for the box they are cramming it into, I loose patience- especially when it is my new Akubra!
Jaffa.

When I was shopping for my Banjo Patterson hat. I wasn't sure what the difference was between the Stylemaster's Acorn Fawn and the Heritage Fawn color of the Banjo Patterson.

I reached out to hats by 100 and hat's direct about the colors.

Hats by 100 replied " it's darker"

Hats direct sent me a photograph of the 2 hat's side by side with an explanation of the color differences.

I bought my Banjo Patterson from hat's direct.
