Just Bought An Odd Akubra

Its a Snowy River, but it appears to be unlined and has a grosgrain band instead of the normal leather one. Anyone ever seen a hat like this?

Did you buy it new or pre-owned, where did you purchase it, and how much did you pay?

Akubra offers special versions of its hats to certain vendors, the difference usually being the hatband or the presence/absence of feathers. However, I've never seen an Akubra that's normally lined without the lining and still be offered under the same name, in this case, the Snowy River.

Could the lining have been removed?

I've a Bushman (in Australian version) it is unlined and has the same mark inside the crown.
It's from Hatsdirect, David Morgan has another version:the American version.

Hi All,

I bought it pre-owned on e-bay. Paid a bit less than half the price most dealers want for a new one. Not as good of a deal as the eleven-dollar Stetson I bought last summer, but still within reason.

But the David Morgan version is lined.

I prefer an unlined for strenuous activity like hiking and flyfishing. I recently removed the lining from an Akubra Riverina.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. If it fits, I plan for the Akubra to be my primary, rainy-day-in-the-woods hat. I'm still just a bit timid about employing any of my Stetsons for such use. Until now, my "beater" has been my Quaker Marine Mountain Walker. I bought it new twenty years ago, and it has been an excellent hat, but its getting long of tooth and could use a little help with its chores.
