I'm not sure any of us realize yet the impact Katrina is going to have on our economy. In my opinion Conoco/Phillips, BP Mobil should suck it up and not plan on another record breaking year for profits (last year profits were up 56%) and set gas prices at a reasonable rate. We're at War and we now have a national disaster of major proportions and everyday Americans are suffering I think a little of that should go up the ladder instead of always trickling down. The Fed Gov should freeze or better yet roll back the price of gas and that's that. We are in an emergency and a War. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
New Orleans is a major port. The impact of goods not flowing thru that port is going to be felt in every supermarket and gas station. I'm usually very optimistic but unless some real leadership takes hold of this we are in for some trying times. I also believe this will be felt globally also. I hope I'm wrong. Where's FDR when we need him!!!!
