Actress June Allyson has passed away (just saw this in the Powder Room, but like to leave that wee oasis to the ladies). Thanks for flagging that up ladies. She will be greatly missed. I always loved the movies when she was acting with James Stewart (another fav of mine).
These people, like our loved ones, live on with us and our memories.

I saw this on IMDB this morning and my heart just dropped. My condolences to her family. I always thought she was a great actress and you gotta love that smile.

Alright, there are about three various posts similar to this one, heehee. :p
I never really liked her (too annoying and cute), but I adore Dick Powell, so I respect for her in that manner. Plus, there are very few actresses from the old days still alive today. This just makes one less. Sigh! :(

She is a real keeper, in my heart

It was said of her, that in WWII, guys pinned up photos of Betty Grabel, and Launa Turner....but June Allyson is the one they wanted to take home to meet their parents.

That says a lot.

Did you know, that at age 8, she was severely injured while riding her bicycle, and was told she would never walk again?

Today, TCM held a June Allyson line of movies. One of the shows was the 1998 Interview in the show Private Screenings. Other than her eyes, smile and such I'll definitely miss that trademark voice. I don't know about the rest of you boys but between Myrna Loy and June Allyson when picking the perfect wife...I'd have A VERY dificult time. Yes I will definitely miss her. With her passing do you guys think that the world has really lost a whole different way of looking at women? Think about the actresses now, do any of them make you feel the way June did? Not bloody likely.

She'll be missed.

Couldn't have said it better, FedoraGent. What a wonderful legacy June left us in her motion pictures. We'll never forget her.

Lauren Bacall...

Well...I actually meant recent actresses. Bacall is different...she's noir...she's almost undescribable. However, I would not want to take Bacall for a wife. I'd have sneaking suspicions that she would be either cheating on me or plotting to put arsenic in my soup.

Gosh, who's really left, besides Olivia de Havilland? :(

Anita Page, Kitty Carlisle, Barbara Kent, I think Luise Rainer (but I could be wrong), Marian Marsh, Dorothy Bartlam, Jane Wyman, Baby Marie Osborne, Baby Peggy (Diana Serra Cary), Dorothy Boyd, Marie Glory. Also, Frederica Maas, a screenwriter is still alive (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0756226/).

I caught some, not all of TCM, they also ran a 93 interview with her, I read of the bike accident, she took good care of herself, still very sweet, cute as she grew older, she knew she wasn't a knock out, so for reals, someone to take home to meet Mom & Dad, what a doll, she will be greatly missed.

The Jimmy Stewart film "The Stratton Story" with June is a must see, enjoyable;)
