Well, it is time again for me to try to sell off a piece of my collection. I love this hat, but I don't ever wear it. The light color of the hat doesn't work for me so it has got to go.

Up for sale is a special hat I won not too many months ago. It is a gray fedora, size 7 3/8, with markings indicate it was made and sold by a store called Joicy Baltimore. I purchased it from the son of the original owner as part of an eBay estate sale, and the initials of the original owner are stamped into the hat. I do not believe it was worn often as the hat is in near-pristine condition. I could not find much information on the business, but the union tag closely resembles examples I've found on the Lounge that date this hat to late 40s, early 50s (1946-1952).

This is without a doubt the nicest hat I own, and the only true vintage in my collection. It has very thin felt with a silky smooth hand and is very well crafted. It takes a crease well but prefers shallower dents.

Enough with the talking, here are the pics:

The hat has only two imperfections. First is that the union tag behind the sweatband is torn. Second is the small brown stain visible in the last picture.

It is vintage. It is custom. It is rare (only two or three Joicy hats have appeared on the Lounge, only two of which were felt fedoras) and in almost pristine condition.

I am asking only $145. I will pay for the shipping myself, at least to the lower 48 states. PM if interested. I MIGHT be interested in a trade, but I am picky so I wouldn't count on it.

So, thank you all for your time and consideration, and good luck!

A couple of pics of the hat being worn, I'll see if I can find more.

I had other pics, but unfortunately I seem to have deleted them. I might take a couple more over the next few days under different lighting conditions, if the clouds ever go away here in Chattanooga.

What's the brim? And what would you call the color?

Brim width is just shy of 2 3/4 inches.

Crown height is just over 5 1/2 inches, though keep in mind there is some slight tapering as is evident in the photos.

The color is very hard to nail down. It seems like something between natural and mid-gray. Depending on the lighting it is a warm grey or a darker grey with tints of blue. It's very strange. The very first pic I posted is truest of the natural color of the felt, though.

Well, I'd post some more pics of the hat under different lighting conditions, but Flickr is being a little bit buggy at the moment. I will get the pictures uploaded as soon as I can.

That is one sweet lid!

Thank you! You should have seen the original auction photos. They were so blurry and poorly lit I thought this was a beat-up silverbelly hat. Imagine my elated surprise when it finally arrived in the mail. It is too bad though. I prefer darker colors, and this one never gets any head time. I'd rather it go to someone who'll actually wear it :D.
