Badly over-priced, imo. The real selling point of Lobbs, surely, is them being bespoke. If they're made bespoke for somebody else, they won't it any better (and might fit worse) than OTR. High quality materials, certainly.... but how much better than Church's? Not that much, I'd wager...

You see the same thing with Savile suits, especially if they are recently made by a tailor that is popular with the "iGent" crowd. I suspect the same crowd drives yhe demand fir these shoes. Of course the exact same points regarding bespoke shoes apply to bespoke suits. Used clothing made by similarly artisanal makers like Oxxford routinely sell for very low prices. All of this leads me to belive that it's nothing more than base brand fetishizing by label whore ... er ... I mean sophisticated, deal seeking iGents.

according to the John Lobb site, their bespoke shoes start at £3090, and crocodile shoes at £9256. given these prices i suppose the winner of the second hand crocs in the above auction got a bargain.

(bespoke shoe prices seem divorced from reality. i'm sure they double them every few years)

I've never owned a pair of Edward Greens. But i did try a pair on ** and was genuinely impressed by how comfortable they were. They felt amazing and very light but, for me, they were just too lightweight. I like a shoe I can stomp around in during the ten months of dreadful weather we have each year.

**(I had no intention of buying them but I'd had a couple of beers and the bloke in the shop must have thought he could talk me into spending some money)
