Hückel Flexible Melone

Hückel Flexible Melone, Size 6 Point, Very good condition. Probably from the 1930s maybe late 1920s. Also rare to find one in a larger size.

Incredible in all respects. I'm glad it had a happy ending on inspection. Are you able to wear it?

congratulations!

Regrettably too small and the sweatband to felt stitch connection is too delicate to be worn without instant damage. Some stitches were pulled through when the seller photographed the factory stamp.

Amazing! I love everything about it and all the original parts intact + great condition! Did you find it on eBay? What a rare find! This is my new Best of 2011!

Similar paper label (same with sweatband) as my old JHS Wien Melone.

with center crease. The 6-1/4" crown is somewhat tapered and relatively flat on top. The curved brim is 2-1/4" wide. The ultra-fine grain ribbon is 2-3/8" wide with the bat-wing bow at the 3/4 rear position.

Not for what it went for. I don't really wear velours, but I agree its the hat of 2011 along with Steves erko velour.

Time for an update.

Hückel Durit Velour, size 6 1/2 Point. This is the beat up one with the rivets and no ribbon. I sent it off to Optimo and it came back looking great. As usual the JHS Velour finish is fantastic. It is unfortunate the liner logo is faded because it appears to be customized. I am pretty sure it's pre 1940 but it could be later.

"A moderate weight relatively short dense velour of amazing quality and consistency. Shapes easily and smoothly. Intensely black. Amazing condition for a hat from before 1939. Same corrugated brow ventilation at front that we associate with Borsalino. One of the finest vintage felts. Maurice L. Rothschild & Co. stores were in Chicago and Minneapolis."

J. Hückel´s Söhne Alpha Seal Velour. This one is tiny but a rare + fantastic light color Velour. I would say 1930s and in very good condition. The felt, liner and sweatband coordinate color wise. I could not find a paper label but I didn't look closely because I didn't want to damage the sweatband.
