Hello all - Unsatisfied with my last, not entirely positive, experience of hookless / vintage zippers, it seems I'm a glutton for punishment and so today I took delivery of this lovely Joe McCoy Nelson/30s Sport Jacket. If feels really comfortable, it seems to fit nicely, but I was hoping for some other thoughts as to whether it's a keeper or I should send it back. Cheif concern, if you want to call it that, is the upper arms seems to be quite large and puffy at present - presumably this will calm down, but I was interested in some other input. Here's a selection of my characteristically poor jacket photos for your perusal - excuse the shirt hanging down, despite the appearance this gives the jacket is a good length

Looks good! I’m anxious to see what you think as I ordered one in replacement of my Mulholland also. How do you think it compares? After last weeks thread on zippers I’m a little nervous on the zipper but the leather looks great and length appears right.

Hey there - off the bat it is so much more comfortable and feels like it fits so much better than the Mulholland its not even comparable - I had a 44 in the FW and got a 44 in this, and this feels much more like it was put together with a western male in mind. I dont want to dunk on the Mulholland as I do know its a very popular jacket around here, but for my body type at least it was dreadful - everything felt like it was in the wrong place, the wrists were ridiculously narrow and difficult to even get my hand through, and it ranks as easily most uncomfortable jacket Ive ever had, and Ive had some howlers - and thats before we factor in the zipper debacle. Talking of which - this one seems to work perfectly - you do have to take a but more care when you do it up, but Ive had no incidents of having to wriggle out of still zipped up jacket so far.

That’s awesome! Thank you. I just got notified my Nelson is coming tomorrow…two weeks earlier than expected. I also got a 44. I’m 5’9, 190 so the measurements seem right and this new round of RMCs are supposed to be true to fit. After Looking at the reviews of the Nelson here I took the plunge on a used one so fingers crossed. I really tried to love the Mulholland. It was a great jacket, smelled amazing, and cannot dump on the construction but I think you‘re right, not for a western body type (at least mine). I couldn’t get past the side pockets that constantly scraped my hands and the placement of the snaps on the cuffs that would dig into my wrists when resting them on a table. I’ll definitely take care of the zipper.

I think it’s quite a nice fit, I’d be very satisfied with that.

The arms need to settle but I don’t think they are too bulky. But then again I dislike when they fit like a second skin.

Final verdict from me: keep it! :D

The arms will settle. A great-looking jacket that looks great on you. WIN!
For me it was either this or the Mulholland. Either way, it's what fits best on your body.

Looks great to me. I like the more sports jacket/ Halfbelt look of this one. It’s a unique design, particularly from the back and the offset buckles (this position greatly enhances the fit imo over the hem adjusters).

Looks good to me. I would take a few shots where you are further away from the camera though so that we can get a better angle without some of the typical distortion.

It looks okay though doesn't strike me as anything special in any particular way, least of all the way it fits. You might as well be wearing a no-brand leather jacket, albeit one that fits well. But just well. I can only echo all the concerns you have voiced thus I would have no idea what I dropped two thousand plus pounds on but... If you like it, why not.

This is rarely talked about. But valid point.
Without a big brand Logo, most people wouldn't know the cost just by looking at any clothing items. But then again, many people will get turned off by visible brand logos; I know I am.
As in any luxury goods, the value is only apparent to the buyer. This is not a good/bad thing. All depends on the angle.
