As a Kentuckian I have protest! Whiskey is as American as....
There are sooo many great ones from here folks.....Bourbon is a Kentucky institution and can't be beat...I feel I am obligated to speak out.

Hmmmm....I thought whiskey was Scottish in origin, actually? It's called as much "Scotch" as "whiskey" here.
Just to appease you, though, my regular keep bottle at a fab little jazz bar here in Tokyo is I.W. Harpers. lol lol lol

I hope you might try a good one if you are a fan. Makers Mark, Woodford Reserve are great ones.

One of my friends keeps Makers Mark, another one Four Roses.
Of course, we don't go overboard, drink only daintily as ladies should, so one bottle lasts quite a few months.

Personally, I am a polyethanol kind of guy so any adult crafted beverage will do for me, as long as it is well made.

So I guess I shall fulfill my obligations to stand up for my Tennessee sippin' whiskey's, Jack Daniel's and George Dickel. They are Tennessee whiskeys not Bourbon as my friend from Kentucky will attest. I had lunch with Bill Samuel's in May and enjoyed a fine glass of Maker's Mark.

Both distilled with the same fine cool clear runnin Tennessee underground spring waterway, both charcoal filter mellowed. This time of year it's Lynchburg Lemonade time, hot and humid. Ooooh boy.
