They're rolling Janie out again. Since I've never seen any of the Jane Eyre adaptations on the big screen I plan to catch this one. The cast looks pretty good as well.

Love that 1944 version!

As I said, I've enjoyed several other versions (most recently the BBC two-parter of a few years back), but the only one I own is the 1944 film.

It's not just the excellent performances, it's the script (which telescopes and modifies the book, but keeps the essentials beautifully intact), the noirish photography, and one of Bernard Herrmann's best scores!

Not to mention (uncredited) 9-year-old Elizabeth Taylor's heartbreaking performance as the doomed Helen Burns!

Elizabeth Taylor can be seen for a moment about halfway through. Sadly, until you had mentioned it, I had never realized it was her.

I looked around the middle of your clip but didn't see her.
