OK, maybe you can help me here HD. I'm going over on the 28th, and I want to bring a gift, but there are few things I can bring from here. Any ideas? I'd like to bring something of Cali/US origins, but I may have to settle for something more local before I go there???

Isn't California known for it's nuts? No..I mean the other kind...lol
Pistachios..Almonds? Might be easier to transport than Napa wine.

I bought a 50's HBD from AeroUSA in June.
I'm picking up in Scotland end of November. Fits the normal timeframe. My third AeroUSA purchase, zero drama.
I sent no gifts, but I am bringing something for my visit.

Did you plan to visit Lochcarron whilst you were at Aero?
It's only about 10 miles away and I believe they do factory tours. Their shop is quite extensive with all the Reiver tartans available in large viewing books so you can pick your favourite for your next Aero! They will even give you a couple of samples if you ask nicely.

Thanks Sweep. I actually picked one of their Tartans for my 50's HBD. "Chisholm Hunting Modern" I believe.
Not sure if we'll have time but that sounds fun too. I'll keep that in mind if we have some spare time!

This is maybe more than you wanted to spend, but email Will and Amanda and let them know the day you'll be there. Tell them to clear their calendars around noon time because you want to take them both to lunch. Also bring Amanda some flowers and as HD suggested, a box of chocolates. It's probably a one time shot.........you going over there and picking up your HBD so it'll be well worth it.

Lunch, flowers and chocolates, all procured from the local economy.

Probably shouldn't get your hopes up...BUT...my last jacket from Aero was shipped from Scotland on a Monday morning(Amanda emailed notification)...and was delivered to my door here in the midwest(Indiana)..TUESDAY afternoon. I was shocked!! Almost missed delivery because I sure wasn't expecting it that quick......

I think before that it had been three days at the quickest....and a few times took a week.

Wow! That is incredible.

At first UPS gave no ETA, then it told me by Wednesday night, now no ETA again...

Enjoy your trip to Scotland, which is very high on my list for countries to visit (my grandmother's lineage is Scottish, as is my middle name). It should be great to thank the Aeros in person and see the factory, too.

This afternoon's update: jacket has been visiting Philadelphia since early morning. I hope the delay is because it is picking me up a cheesesteak and a couple of soft pretzels.

Arrived Wednesday night!

To recap: order placed 2 June - jacket finished 11 November, shipped 14 November, and arrived 16 November.

Incredibly fast shipping from Scotland to the States.

At one point, UPS told me that my jacket was about to time travel and arrive earlier that day. When it did finally arrive (sans time travel), the UPS man took it away again! He couldn't figure out to whom I should have made out the customs check, so he repossessed the jacket while he contacted headquarters and finished deliveries in the area. You could have seen my heart sink. But, of course, he returned, the check was written, and I have in my possession an outstanding coat.

I just came back from London.

And being in London, I went to Lewis Leathers...great experience! A nice japanese guy took all my measurements and after having tried some of the jackets they had I departed from 100£ and ordered a navy blue Super Sportsman with white stripes, body one inch shorter, sleeves one inch longer and special golden lining...

...and I have to wait.

TWO months.

I don't know why the board won't let me edit my post on page 5. My Veste de Rallye is back in my hands after being sent to Aero for modifications; it was delivered today. Total time from dispatch (August 1) to receipt (Nov 23) was just under four months. They did a great job and it came back just in time for the cold weather here in the northeastern US!

How Long Is Too Long ?

Hello all at Fedora Lounge,
I have been a long time reader and have been registered for a while as well, but always felt I had more to learn than offer.
However having recently come across this thread and having some questions myself about wait times, I thought I might pose this variation of this subject: Has anyone every cancelled an order because the wait time was just too long ?
I would be surprised if anyone had, but having passed the twelve month anniversary of my order of a modified Aero Stewart I must admit having contemplated the idea.
Just for the record, I have purchased a few other Aeros with little or no issue, and Mark M. has always been a great communicator and really quite nice to deal with, but the wait does take its toll, so....my question is, how long would many of you wait for one another beautiful jacket ?

My advice would be to contact 'Amanda' at Aero Scotland if the wait goes way past the promise date. Even though ordering through Aero USA..it seems that Amanda could look up the order...and advize to where it is on the schedule..or why it hasn't yet been completed. Contacting her would at least directly alert her about the problem and prompt an investigation and reply. Personally...I wouldn't have waited this long! Seems there is a lack of communication somewhere...or something misplaced. Right now..I'm sure Aero is swamped for the Christmas season...so I wouldn't hesitate contacting them without delay.
