yes, solid state drive is small, shock proof, fast access, ideal for external disc, since it is also run cooler than mechanical disc it can use simpler/ smaller enclosure.
downside is... when they die... they just die instantly without warning.

I'm living in a place with bad internet speed so working in the cloud doesn't work here, and beside I hate the idea of letting everything stored online somewhere... I like to backup my files online with dropbox etc just incase my pc or my disc die, but not the other way around (since I work alone and mostly on a single machine or two of which I set them as network.. I don't get any benefit of working in the cloud experience other than hiccups)

Sorry, I don't think I was very clear. I don't think that I do look girlie, it's just that I see the way my wife faffs around with her handbag, and I feel really self-conscious that I look and do the same with mine.

no worries - I was picking up on the comment Mark made... just a bit bemused by it. But yeah, I think being comfortable with an accessory makes all the difference as to whether you can 'carry' it or not - same with an A2 or anything else, really. It's not a big deal here in london, but that's back to what I said about so many of us using public transport and such...

I never shaved my legs when I was out in drag, mind. I mean, if Tim Curry didn't do it.... I was always a stickler for screen accuracy.

Oh, I completely agree.... I even bought a hard-drive for back up in the office rather than use the online institutional system. I don't fully trust online back-up for anythinbg confidential (look at what happened with the iCloud a few months ago!), and I also loathe the idea of taking everythin g to a subscription service where if you stop paying you lose access to programmes, content, all sorts.... It's not a trend I want to support by any means. Does look like it's gonig that way a lot, alas.

I know all that. What I was rejecting was the implication that unlike Top Gear presenters the so called upper classes were OK role models.

Anyway... I just bought another leather satchel by a local maker. Hope it's more useful than the Saddleback, it cost me almost as much as a jacket.

What better role models exist than the upper class? :bowl:

I thought the OP's original question was a really good one, as I've noticed that the only time I even consider the color of my bag (I need one for work) is when I'm wearing a leather jacket. If I'm wearing anything else it simply never occurs to me, but with a brown leather jacket I just can't be seen with a black leather bag. Would it matter if the bag wasn't leather? Sorry, just thinking out loud.

Really? I don't match things but if I did and I had a choice I wouldn't wear brown with brown in leather. I'd go black. Deliberate matching of colour and material looks too cute to my eyes.

Generally agree but see @Dr.Suess on page 3 for a great example of 2 different browns working well. It also depends on the bag. A formal black brief might not look great with a brown leather jacket.

but black leather is a very strong element, probably pairing black leather jacket+ black leather briefcase is a little bit overwhelming, especially since your shoes & belt are probably also in leather (or even black too)

I think the effect is very strong when those leather items are all new, once they fade, or lose their shine, cuffed, or worn, then they will appear more natural and subtler.

I always choose canvas messenger bags due to my 'handbag' anxiety. But when the kids were babies, used the wife's LV messenger bag because it always had all the babies stuff in it.

I've had a large (or medium, can't remember) Saddleback briefcase in chestnut for quite a few years now, but to be honest I never got into the habit of using it on a daily basis, and that was when I had a daily commute to my office. I tried a Tusting briefcase but I never really took to it either. Now I do one or two nights in London every week and work from home in the North West of England the rest of the time, so I use a Goruck G2 for my weekly trips and I'm currently enjoying using a navy blue Topo Designs Mountain Briefcase for day trips, although it's one of many shoulder bags I rotate through. It's a great design, not too big and can be used as a shoulder bag or rucksack.

It's beautiful. I had a Saddleback Large Satchel prior to this, but I just never totally liked it. It was totally overbuilt to the point of being ridiculous. Too many D-Rings, too many layers of leather all over, and just too heavy. It was well built though, just not my style. This Satchel and Page will probably belong to my great great grandson some day. I can't wait till it breaks in!

Good choice there Dan. The upside for me with mine is I haven't needed to buy more than one, in say a different colour etc etc like I seem to with leather jackets.

It appears that 1 high quality briefcase is enough (well for me at least).

Well, here it is!!!

Came home today to find my Saddleback Medium Thin Briefcase in Dark Coffee had arrived - it only took two weeks from the US, so not too bad I suppose. It really is a fantastic product!
It is so over engineered that Dave's claim that it'll outlast you is quite honestly true.

Anyway, it's day 1 & the thing is as stiff as they could possibly come. This one will be an interesting journey to break it in.......
Just the right size, solid, but not too heavy as far as I am concerned. Very, very nice.

That's correct.
I tried it out of pure curiosity & it was surprisingly comfortable in the backpack configuration. I can't say that I'd ever use it that way though.
This is for my daily use to & from the office, not for trekking through Africa, like Dave the owner of the company.
