J. Peterman Spanish-style Linen Jacket

Picked this up off eBay for a lot less than it sold for new, and it came today. It's rather nifty, if I do say so myself. This is a J. Peterman striped linen jacket, single vent, three button. I was nervous from the photo that it was going to be really over-the-top, but I actually like it. It's got a good nip in the waist (though it doesn't come across well in the photos, I know), a subtle belted back, and the material is great.

Now, bear in mind that I'm not the most photogenic Lounger out there. I'm not a bad-looking guy if I do say so myself, but I don't come across as dashing in photos as, say, Hemingway Jones or some of our other extremely stylish members. That, and I'm still rather shy about showing myself in photos. So, ignore my ugly mug if you need to. I think the jacket's pretty nifty, though. Oh, and yes - I also got a boater. :)

I was seated on my window sill here, so it's a little scrunched on one side. I know the sleeves look a little long, but I think that's my shirt sleeve's fault here - the jacket sleeves are a pinch long, but not as long as they look in the photo here. It's straight out of the box, so if anything looks disheveled it's probably because of that.

I second the "nifty" description. Very cool jacket. In fact, there isn't anything about it that I don't like, except that it's not mine!lol I'm guessing it's something like 1/4 lined?
Nifty tie too.

I like the jacket! Thumbs up on those photos -- the coat suits you and you suit it.

Thanks, Marc!

Nifty tie too.

Thanks! Yes, it's 1/4 lined in rayon. Rest is unlined. The tie was my grandfather's, and while I really don't think it's vintage (too long), it has a bit of that look to it.

Well done! You look fantastic in that jacket.

Thanks!

Awesome Atomic! Well done. The jacket looks fantastic and you paired it perfectly with that skimmer and tie. Very well done, indeed.

I appreciate the kind words, Hem! I only just received that hat, and have yet to actually wear it out due to the rainy weather blowing through Fort Worth at the moment. I feel perfectly comfortable in public in fedoras, but this one will probably take some courage since it's just *so* different from what people are used to these days.

I think the jacket ads 10% more dashing to your look.

The hat on the other hand... well it's swell.

I was going to get one of those jackets when they hit the catalog though baled... I might rethink that.

You look marvalous and you know you do. It's good to have a good linen jacket to up the look on a hot summer day.

Stay cool.

I think it was made for you. The moment you walked in on it on eBay, it says, "Bid on me, bid on me!"

Perhaps you should try to locate different colors.

I would, but I'm fairly certain they only came in that one color combo. As for the pants asked above, just my Bill's Khakis, though they are canvas (really) versions of the M1Ps.

So that's what it looks like! I couldn't imagine it from their illustration.

Great look.

Yeah, I was thinking it was more of a blue. The ad copy says "blue with cream stripes" which sounds really nice to me, and I liked the way the color looked in the illustration, but this looks different than I was imagining.

Atomic Glee, do you think you could get some pictures of it in the sunlight sometime, so we can get a better idea of the color? Sometimes artificial light can make it difficult.

It looks great on you, I just don't know that I would like that color for me.
