J.A. Dubow MFG?

Problem with Platon isn't so much the merchandise, it's everything that surrounds it in terms of customer service, attitude etc. I suppose at that price it might be worth a punt, but to me you're throwing cash on a roulette wheel and sticking it on black.

Noted... I'll ride the wheel on the chance that at least the first few runs will be extremely detailed Dubows of that contract in nice HH (supposedly Vicenza), and fit relatively well. Perception of these repros at various forums when reviewed, and pride is riding on it.. As long as I have some protection in-place through eBay / PayPal, a good gamble indeed IMO.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!! The first Dubow repro has landed. I can't wait to lay my hands on the seal brown I have ordered next month... Then, another one in russet (already socking some $$ away) .... To sum it up in one word..... OUTSTANDING!!

Damn! That looks good. I wanted to order one too but Platon wouldn't make me a custom jacket. The stock sized jacket is too short for me. Bummed about that...

I was going around the internet when I stumbled on a 'new' reproduction A2 flight jacket maker.

Does anyone have any experience with them? Based on the pictures on their site they make a lovely Dubow A2. Their price is fair also. I maybe interested in ordering a Seal brown one. They are based in Athens so maybe related to Bill Kelso?

From everybody's description of Platon he sounds like Seinfelds soup Nazi. If that is the case the man must be obsessed with accuracy and perfection. If you plan on buying his product provide accurate measurements and avoid weight gain or what ever. If they suggest a looser fit then buy a looser fit as you might wear a sweater etc underneath. If his horse hide products are priced extremity competitive and made in Athens, Greece (I wished it were Chicago IL USA) I would buy one despite the man's temper.
That reminds me of another perfectionist who deals with discriminating clients: LOST WORLDS INC.
Considering Platon strives to provide the best at the most reasonable prices below what his pricey competitors are selling I think the would be clients take seriously what is offered and commit to buy an exceptional product from a resurrected storied name.
I saw the prices. Horse hide at that price. I would commit and buy from Platon.

I am seriously tempted to buy from JA DUBOW.

Never had an issue with him and would buy from him. Unless it has changed, there is currently a hold on orders.
