I plead guilty to both collaborating with Art on The Continental and owning the one with the purple ribbon with the "Trompe l'Oieil" treatment on the double chevron. My inspiration comes from the hat worn by the Pablo Neruda character in the film Il Postino. It is a much wider brim than I am accustomed to and a lower crown also. I do like the European flair and Art did a bang up job on the shape which has been on my mind for the last two years.

This Saturday is The Running for the Roses and I intend to inaugurate it as my wife and I have two seats. The Julep cups are polished, fresh mint will be picked from our herb garden, and bubbling Hot Brown sandwiches will be consumed. Please, if one of you would just remind me to dust off the screen on our Samsung, it will be that much better.

That is one of the finest hats I have ever seen in my life. Congratulations analogist and Art!:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Art,
What do you do with the hats that don't pass your inspection?
Any chance of a not perfect clearance sale? :D

Sam

Sorry Sam, but I don't get that far with them, not finished hat kind of far. They are just a pile of ivory bodies that revealed flaws along the process somewhere and I can't knowingly send out a flawed hat.. I'll use them for samples in the future.

That is a beautiful hat Art and a very fair price as well. That color can not be easy to work with.

A beauty Bart! Congratulations. Another work of Art.:eusa_clap

Nope not mine. Just got to kick off the thread:D My hands don't get clean enough to be in the same room as that stunner. Though I will have a different VS showing up kinda soon.

No words can describe!!! That is fantastic!

...Do you find the color to be fairly versatile? I'd personally think it to be hard to pair with an ensemble.

You would think that ivory goes with a lot of clothes, almost anything dark and many things light; but always dressy. In my nice dress hats, I found I couldn't get around that. A dressy hat is a dressy hat, and sort of demands a nice shirt, possibly a coat, and so on.

Dear fluteplayer07,

The first and foremost reason of this purchase was the beauty of the hat.
I asked Art for this ribbon color combination since I think this adds even a bit more elegance to the entire appearance than the original - in my opinion. If you notice the middle of the bow has a purplish hue in it. The lining is in purple with dark brown sweatband.

The natural colored Wall street is my versatile and everyday hat - which I wear quite often and also in the rain and snow. Without any problems.

This ivory will be cherished. I think this can be matched with a lot of ensembles like this navy or any black or charcoal suit with a white shirt. The tie also gets close harmonies with the ribbon - I think there are variations with anything elegant. Could look good with a cream suit too.

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the credits - the merit goes to Art Fawcett.
I knew he would create some brilliant hat.
