So I have quite a few hand made jackets from AL/SB back in 2013, Roadster's, Dirt Riders etc Horween being my favourite, and they no longer fit. I lost 1/3 of my bodyweight and have gone from a 44 to 40 inch chest.

Can these be resized or is it a hassle. I have had them so long, and most have barely been out of the wardrobe, due to the sizing issue mostly.

My Horween Roadster is gorgeous, but it really is too big.

I could ask SB to resize but I just wonder if it's a faff. Other than that I could just bite the bullet and give them away to friends then get a new one from SB or Aero.

Any advice would be great, I have gone down the Ebay route, aside from one lovely fellow FL buyer had some chancers, so will be passing on that going forwards.

Would really appreciate your advice!

Cheers

Some more photos of the available collection would be good if possible?

I would imagine having them all altered 4 inches would be expensive indeed.

Mind you replacing them new in 40" would be hideously expensive all at once !

I am interested from Australia, but a bit like yerself I am "hoaching" with leather jaikits already haha...

Sorry to hear of your sales experiences… I’ve had nothing but great experiences here (maybe just lucky). I’ve sold 4 items inside one week and all the members were great to deal with.

That said, you could try Dena at Great Leather. She has a lot of great reviews here, but I’m not sure what she’d say about taking a jacket down two sizes …

Good luck!

I did consider selling here and might do over time, want to get back into the community first, and see what new jackets are out there. I love Horween, but my 44" roadster is just too big, I have the stunning Detroit in burgundy horween and again too big, but I hadn't worn that at all.

I would resize that one and my roadster, but for the sake of it I would just let someone else have them and get a new one in my 40 size. The leather is all great but I can imagine taking apart and recutting would be a faff for the company and just as much as getting new probably!

I just can't be bothered with the hassle of selling. I've had one fellow member sell, nice guy, two others on ebay mucked me about and tried to scam, they are hopeless at helping there.
I’m not sure what issues you’ve had with selling on eBay, however over the past 18 months I’ve sold quite a number of items, leather jackets included, and the sales have been completed fine. And, on the couple of occasions where I’ve spoken with eBay’s Customer Services people for some advice I’ve found them to be very helpful.
Also, coincidentally quite a few Alexander Leathers jackets have very recently appeared for sale on eBay UK. Although there’s been more than one seller someone who also resides in Scotland looks to have sold at least 5.

The main issue with taking a jacket down that much smaller is you begin to alter the underarm and armhole. You have to make it smaller which then also starts to effect mobility and overall fit takes a big hit. Also proportions get all weird, your armhole has to raise, bicep gets a bit smaller, etc. That said if the jackets have a center back seam or paneling there are a lot more spots to be able to pinch out and save from having to take at side seams and effect the armhole so dramitically.

Impossible, in effect. Properly resizing an entire leather jacket includes identical amount of work as making a brand new one, with an additional task of taking it apart.

I think you're right, much better to let someone else have these. Would have been handier if someone wanted more than one :D

I've used it for years and it was fine, mostly buying, went back and had a few scammers clicking buy it now then cancelling immediately, asking to send weird ways, I had one good buyer but the rest were odd. It feels like it's changed a lot.

How? I've never had issues with eBay and I've been buying/selling 2-5 items per year since like 2008.

I think I actually saw your ads on eBay and I was pondering them too!

I once asked Aero and a leather cutter about something like this. Hem and a small amount of P2P can be reduced, but it is more difficult with the shoulders. Conclusion: it's not worth it and the result is not fully satisfactory. I once had this done on a sports coat. Never wore it again.
