Nice! Love women in straw hats. Haven't been 'downtown' (as we call it) in quite some time now.

I'm starting to have a problem with wearing straw. With my beard being long and now white, people think I'm Amish.

Not that there's anything wrong with being Amish. It's just that I probably give the Amish a bad name. LOL!

Peters Brothers milan this morning.

I would like to compare the finish and hand(?) of the PB Milan to my Strat Hemp. Might just have to get one. You look great, glad to see it.

I have two PB hemp milans and two Stetsons.The easiest comparison in my mind is to say that the PBs feel western weight and stiffness while the Stetsons are closer to dress weight.

My two favorite straws: The darker one is a Dobbs Milan originally sold at Leo M Kuehn's "Manhattan" mens' store in Gainesville, TX and the other is an Italian-made Knox originally sold by Dreyfuss & Son in Dallas.

I’m a true vintage Borsalino man, for me there’s little to compare with a 1930 -1950’s Borsalino fedora. However, I needed an elegant summer hat, but found almost everything tediously ordinary and either wildly cheap or wildly expensive. I take a very large size making true vintage really rare. Then one day... I found this, on eBay of course, the right size WOW! A Borsalino fine weave Baku Fedora and in perfect order. I couldn’t say ”No!” and bid a considerable sum of money, hoping to be quite sure of winning it. Thankfully I did win the auction and the price?Well not as much as I had bid, it was as it should be.

I love it, have not yet seen another anything like it and I take great care of it. I put it on by the brim never by the pinch, I’ve had a close look at the bash and the creases where it may split first. There’s no sign of trouble yet, so I decided to risk taking a preventative measure on the sharper creases and it worked much better than I dared hope. Once dry you see nothing at all. While it sounds drastic, I do recommend it. I squeezed a good amount of E6000 clear glue into inside of the sharpest creases at the peak. This was gently eased onto/ into the interior of the creases being very careful not to force it through to the outside of the Baku weave. I let it cure and I think it’s made a very good and completely invisible ’hold’ which should avoid the Beku weave from spliting.

Doesn't look quite like a Milan, and from what I remember leghorn is rather flat.

Our weather has been glorious I have to admit. The old MG has been showing off in the sunshine, and I do love to dress the part when out and about in it.

I hope everyone realized this was all in good humor. It was meant as a humorous/joke post/description of my hat, definitely not to compare to the quality hats I see. It was a 5.99 hat at our CO-OP and although I like the sun shade it got too bright so I covered it up.
