It's At The Tip Of Your Tongue

I do this often for some reason but, with simple everyday words like chair, pencil or stove. It's a bit weird, friends of mine think its funny.

I usually get the word after describing it's function like, "you know that thing that you sit on at the desk and you can roll around on it, that thing (pointing at chair)...the chair!"

the words are:

Schmock! Schmock! And you win a Hebrew National salami.

I tend to dramatically yell out the answer like I've made the world's greatest discovery, as well.

Oh and I think anyone here from Los Angeles could have told you it was Ralphs. :p

Next time someone here is in this situation, and is near a computer, post it here!

lol Probably any of you out there anywhere in CA could have told me.

Unfortunately, I was in a car, nowhere near a computer, and that announcement I made in the grocery store was the first time I had thought about it since...
Such are the workings of my mind! lol

But now I know I can come here next time I can't think of the word for.... that thing....or that other thing.....;)

At my age, I sometimes suffer from a case of CRS.*

Sometimes I can't think of a word, sometimes I forget a famous name, a movie star or celebrity I've known all my life, sometimes I have something important to say and, then, when there is a slight interruption, I forget what I was going to say.

At least I knew the prefix so I could look it up: Dysphasia: loss or deficiency in the power to use or comprehend words as a result of injury or disease of the brain. This is what they thought I had when it got so bad that I went to the doctor about it. He made sure it wasn't just a case of forgetting what I was talking about, stuttering, or not knowing a difficult word. None of those, so I had an MRI after having blood tests done to make sure it wasn't a bop on the head or a stroke. The MRI was cool, I got to listen to Glenn Miller, but I was a little out of it upon emerging. Anyway, as I said earlier, before I looked up the word which my dad the PhD. of course knew right away, the MRI and blood tests showed no causes. More questioning led to evidence of extreme stress at home. So I took some medicine for a month or two and it cleared right up. Whew. For awhile there I could barely utter a complete sentence and it was extremely scary and frustrating.

Dysgraphic

Dysgraphic, that's what I am. I switch the letters around when I write. I always write "thanks" as "thnaks", for example. I do it typing or handwriting. I also make upstrokes when I mean to make down strokes, so "b" becomes "q", etc. Makes for very sloppy hand writing.
My posts would be unintelligible if I didn't proofread them religiously.

My biggest problem is when I write words that look like they are spelled wrong but I know are correct.

For instance, I've written "the" a zillion times (OK - maybe a billion). However, every so often, I look at the word and think its not spelled correctly. I've had that problem with other words.

I do the same thing all the time

I've been SO bad with this since I had my son two years ago! I guess it's all just stress, or just more on my mind.
I usually have to go through the alphabet trying to remember the word I'm looking for.

This happens to me a lot. The most embarrassing time was when I was working on a project that involved transcribing an old, handwritten diary, and was talking to my boss about it. I forget the exact nature of the problem, but I could not, for the life of me, remember the word "apostrophe." I ended up using the wrong word, and was completely mortified.

The most recent time this happened to me was the other night. I was playing Scrabble with my mom (I know, I know, I have a WILD social life) and could not remember the word "concede." (She was kicking my butt, to put it mildly.)
