I just had a fascinating and enjoyable conversation with John at Good Wear Leather. What a fountain of information he is. This little post is to make it official, I have committed to the best of the best, a Good Wear A-2 repro. After exhausting research I am convinced that this is right for me.

And I thought I should share the information that the waiting list is now 2 Years. So, the longer you think about it, the longer you'll have to wait.

I love that I can change my choice of contract and any detail up until he starts cutting. But right now I decided on the Dubow 20960 in seal brown as shown on his web page:

Nice one! Two years is a hella long wait, but I'm sure you'll be delighted with the results. If I was going to go for one, I think I'd head for the Monarch, Jeff M of this parish's one is stunning.

Wow two years. Not for me, gives life's uncertainties a better chance for unwelcome intrusions. I like A2 jackets but not well enough to wait that long. But I imagine that patient buyers who want exacting requirements will be well satisfied. My recently arrived Aero Real Deal A2 in under six weeks will keep me more than happy though I may have been tempted by one of GW's off the shelf Aero's if they were available when I first ordered. .

That's a long time. If I was going to purchase other jackets in that time period, it wouldn't bother me. I think that's the trick.

Damn, in 2 years time you could enter and then graduate from a community college with an Associate Degree before you get your jacket.

Yeah but I'd be looking good on graduation day :) and you know you never finish the race that you don't start.

The best is always worth waiting for. I had a custom built bicycle made for me a few years back and waited that long. I wouldn't part with it for love or money.
As for the choice of contract, I have a 20960 in dark russet and it is a fantastic jacket. The Dubow is a great choice. If I decide to get another of John's masterpieces I'd be sorely tempted to get a seal HH in the same contract. Although I am also very fond of the Doniger and Security Aviation Togs as well.
Congratulations on your decision and rest assured the sweet torture of the wait will be worth it.

Welcome to the club ;) and welcome to 2 years of mind-changing, great fun late night time-waisting hours, pouring over GW A-2 gem options.
I am narrowed down to the Monarch and RW1401. I am around 4 months out.... I think. The last 18 months has gone pretty quick.
I have taken possession of a couple of other A-2s in the mean time, but nothing has been worth holding on too.
I may actually place a 2nd order to get on the queue... again... one never knows. As it is my as yet 'unborn' jacket has already increased in value ;))

No, it's a Hunter. Made by Rick Hunter in Santa Cruz. It is made from some of the nicest steel tubing that Columbus produces and I've equipped it with as much made in the US components as possible. Fits perfectly and rides like a dream.

Anyways, back to jackets Gents. Sorry for the diversion.
