It finally got cold enough for my N3B to make sense

It works great for snow shoveling/blowing. The hood, zipped up, really kept the wind and powder out of my face. Usually I get a lot of fine spray blowing back into my face from the snow blower, no matter which direction I aim it, it always seems to come back at me. But with the hood up, it kept almost all of it from reaching my face. I didn't get overheated, and was comfortable the entire time. Before I went in, I brushed the snow off myself, and it was pretty dry when I hunt it up. I was dry, too. Great piece of gear. I have one of the older ones, with real fur trim on the collar.

it is nice to hear about a bit of original kit being used like this. I had a very early N3B too, fully zipped it was ideal for frosty windy weather going in to work by train and foot. :)

I wore mine today. It's a non-miltary Spiewak Golden Fleece model and I agree with the above poster. It keeps me very warm but doesn't overheat.

The air temperature this morning heading into work was 11 F (-12 C) so I wore my ANJ-4 for the first time this season. The jacket is so warm I cannot imagine wearing it above 15 - 20 F (-9 to -7 C) !
