I think Im just being paranoid.... opinions? If it turns out to be 80s, no big deal, I hardly paid anything for it. [huh]

Why? Style and construction are what matters, not actual age. People here just prefer the styles of earlier eras.repeatclicks said:Well thats a relief. It would have bugged me endlessly if it was 80s.

Its not really a snobbery thing, but I also don't like a whole lot of the reproduction stuff out there. Don't get me wrong, there is some amazing stuff out there, and I myself own a couple Sun Surf shirts, but an 80s jacket is 80s. The mindset that went into it would be 80s with a 50s feel.
I guess it would be like saying an 80s gab shirt is a 50s gab shirt. Its simply the difference between night and day, even if the fabric was close and they used an original pattern.
Anyway, I'm not here to debate the issue, its just my personal feelings.

The most popular label that did 50s inspired clothes in the 80s was Reminiscence.reetpleat said:Interesting puzzle. My first thought is pretty obviously 50s unless it was a very good repro. Thing is, in the 80s most makers did not do repros, they did influenced by. Lighter weight, double breasted fleck etc. I do know there were some 80s companies doing repro, but they did gab jackets, shirts etc. rare would be areal sportcoat, but maybe in the UK that would be different.
