Seems to me any difficulty is more due to the availability (or otherwise) of appropriate seasonal clothing in the styles we prefer rather than a blanket notion of whether "vintage" is better suited to warm or cold weather. While climate change has certainly bitten us, they did have both hot and cold weather 'back in the day'...

I think much of it has to do what most of us have gotten used to.

People wear next to nothing during the summers now. It's what they're accustomed to. I have made it a policy to not be seen in public without a collared shirt on, usually with a t-hirt or more often a henley underneath. My preferred shirts are long sleeve safari-style with the sleeves rolled up a couple of times. And I always have a fedora on my head. People make the occasional comment concerning how I am able to not pass out in the heat dressed as such.

I think to think of it as the way people thought of it back in the day. People didn;t go outside dressed as kids. There was no air conditioning. People dressed as adults and just made due and didn't pi$$ and moan about it in the way that they do when they know there is a cooler, more comfortable way.

Summer months are my From Here to Eternity months! The only time of the year I break out the vintage tropical shirts and Buzz Rickson khakis.
