Hello,
I am hoping someone can put me in contact with a member named "aswatland". He posted pictures some years ago of flight trousers he had with P. Leboldus written on the suspenders. I have recently ramped up my efforts to investigate the loss of each of the 3 Leboldus men KIA. They are related to me on my mother's side, though unfortunately I have never received more than brief comments from family on the loss of the boys. Their mother was named Silver Cross Mother for 1955 here in Canada.

Thanks for any help,

Chris Jones, Ontario, Canada

Chris, Andrew posts regularly and generally checks the Irvin threads too.
Good luck with your research.

Here are some photos of the Irvin trousers mentioned at the start of this post. They date to 1939 and were made by Irvin Air Chute. I particularly like the close pile fleece and russet facings. They complete with the elasticated braces.

The zips are the Dot British variety with the mottled and horizonal lined pulls. The pulls and sliders still retain most of their black paint. The leather pullers are also intact.

Here is one of the slider buckets marked Dot British.

The label has the 1939 contract and one of the owners' names: D Haig Francis. The first owner was Peter John Leboldus. He was a Pilot officer and later Flying officer, flying as a navigator and died on 13 Feb 1943 when his bomber crashed returning from a sorte.

I no longer own these trousers having sold them around four years ago, but they are one of the best pair of Irvin trousers that I have seen. I have no more information on Leboldus. A search of the internet may reveal more.
